G'day guys

Posted this in the trade rumours thread on the D&T board

Dylan Roberton has (apparently) asked for a trade back home and nominated his preffered destination as Carlton despite living closest to the team he supported as a kid (St.Kilda).

Take this with a grain of salt as even I am not so sure as to the reliability of this 'source'.
Very interesting, for what it's worth (a grain of salt) i'd say if he really wanted to go to Carlton, Paul Bower would be the most realistic trade.

Read this in the Herald Sun today.

Ross Lyon met players over the past few weeks and passed on some wise words to young midfielder Anthony Morabito.
Morabito was scheduled to head to Bali.
Ross Lyon asked him who his fav midfielder is(he answered Judd) ,he then asked Morabito if he thought Judd would be going on an end of season trip to Bali with his mates on the back of a serious knee injury.
Morabito ended up giving the trip to Bali a miss.

"pursue excellence every day".

I like it.

A couple of things for me with watching the Grand Final.

I would much rather recruit Mitch Clark than Dawes. For starters I expect that he will have more chance of being a forward with significant impact for us. Secondly, being a decent ruckman gives us insurance that if he does not work as a forward then we can still get value from him. Dawes is simply a forward.

And of course the final thing is that Clark wants to play for us, and live here.

It's easy to say that after a bad game. If he played a game like he did in the drawn GF, you may well be singing a different song.

I am not having a go at Dawes as a forward, although I think he is over-rated by some people. He did have a bad game, and there was nothing much that the coach could do to turn that around for him.

I think the value in Clark is his versatility, and Dawes lack of versatility hurt them in the GF. Clark in the same situation could be given a run on the ball. He has played on the wing. He has played in the backline. All things that could play a role in shaking the defence off him and getting some value out of him.

with the rumours about Dylan Roberton keen to head back to Victoria and nominating Carlton as his favoured new home (Supposedly), is there any interest from us to maybe have a crack at getting Kane Lucas. If we can't get O'Meara i wouldnt mind offering Roberton and maybe our compo pick for him. I don't know if that would be enough to get him but i think he would be a pretty good get for us. You can never have to many midfielders. i know we do have a few of his kind already but i remember watching him at East Freo and he was all class. very good finisher in front of goals to and goal kicking midfielders are good to have in your team, just ask Geelong!

Add that to the list of indigeonous talent to be reportedly wanting to head home and the list reads something like this:

Wannaemirri
Davis
Jamie Bennel
Leroy Jetta
Isiah Stevens I think only wanted to play for/in WA.

I know it's the wrong thread but I wonder if there are any legs to any of these rumours?

I wonder if we could get a discount on Neon Leon based on a suspension from the GF which will make him miss round 1 next year? ;)

Davis is deciding whether to have one more year at Collingwood or retire. Said yesterday he is pretty sure he will be staying at Collingwood. Anyway, seems WC are the one's with the real interest in him not us.

Is he local? I thought he was NT

Being reasonably realistic here is how I would like to see our off-season moves pan out:

1. move Pav to veterans list
2. griff and duff to GWS for JOM
3. Palmer compo and mayne to bri for m clark and pick 34
4. roberton to carlton for bower
5. jvb and bollenhagen to ade for pick 74
6. pick 38 to STK for c jones
7. select j dobosz for pick 16
8. select j lockyer for pick 34
9. select w manson for pick 56
10. select k horsley for pick 71
11. select b hill for pick 74
12. pick up busher, florio, cook, hughes and t lee in rookie draft
13 upgrade clancee, casey and lower.
14. get watters as assnt to lyon - otherwise mcphee from claremont

this would give us a starting 22 of

suban - silvagni - bower
broughton - mcpharlin - ibbotson
s hill - barlow - mzungu
fyfe - clark - deboer
ballantyne - pavlich - walters

sandilands - mundy - jones

clarke - morabito - lower
sub pitt

Sorry but Griff and Duff won't get it done for JOM and I don't think 38 for C Jones will satisfy the Saints either.
