Where are we going to get the pick from? I thought any compensation picks could be used this year??

I'm not sure what you mean??

If Palmer is headed to GWS (as has been reported) then our comp pick could well be around 19 to 25, it is my understanding we can either use it this year or next year. Having said that our first pick is likely to be somewhere between 12 and 18 depending on next weeks results.

Conceivably we may have a pick between 12 and 18 for where we finished on the ladder - for a player like Talia.

If we utilise the Palmer pick we may have our second pick somewhere between 19 and 25 - hopefully landing Kersten at the club.

My first choice would be Kersten but I can see lasting a little longer in the draft than Talia.

Please please dont use either to get Mitch Clarke.

Graham Jetta from Swans as a mature age replacement for Roger H. Will probably win SDFC fairest and best as a back pocket.

Cheers B571. Best be warehousing the palms compo pick & activating in the 2012 super draft.

Absolutely. Pick 29 in a shallow draft versus 18-20 next year in a deep one.

Bank it every day of the week.

I'd love to pick up a quality inside mid this draft, but I reckon we're better served grabbing the best KPF we can get our hands on with the first pick, and the best KPF/KPD that is left with our second. We need talls on the team now to give them some time to develop.

Then grab the best inside mid we can get our hands on as priority number 1 in next years superdraft. Someone that can dig out the ball, get to stoppage after stoppage, has good skills and good pace. And one that'll spread to receive after the ball is out.

Despite the fact that we've got a little bit of depth for inside mids, I can't remember the last one we actually drafted with an early pick Palmer. Top quality inside mids are still critical in the modern game, and we haven't placed enough importance on drafting them for a while. We aren't going to get top quality 10 year inside mids via the rookie list, turning flankers into mids or late picks. We've done well with what we've invested (bugger all in terms of high draft picks), but we need to put a higher priority on it.

We can probably grab a decent inside mid with a later draft pick this year, or even via the rookie list. But I'd like to see as go hard to get a top-line inside mid with our top pick next year.

From the wafl id definitely have a crack at blackwell, then also maybe get alroy gilligan and/or graham jetta all more often than not named in the bests for their teams and all have something to offer

i think the dockers should target mcinness with there first pick, i can really see his status rising after the results of draft camp. he is an extremely athletic tall defender and he is that very tall for a defender. i cant really see shane kersten sliding to our second round pick which some people believe one of kersten and mcinness will, not gunna happen. im hoping that manson will slide to our second pick but there is a bit of hype surrounding him at the moment after a coupl of good games for claremont. if we can get 2 of those three players with our first two picks it will go an extremely long way to helping our lack of talls. then with our later pick if it is a bit thin we could even look at getting luke blackwell wiht one of our last picks. then we have a developing all defender who may be able to play a few games in his first season, a tall forward who also may play a few in his first game, and a clearance specialist who racks up the possies and uses the ball well who could really slide straight into our startng 22. all aspects have been met then. if we could jag o'meara with our priority pick and some players then i would be one of the hapiets people in the world.

Claremont had Waylen Manson. Kicked 8 . 4 one day, the next he´s upping and going back bush. His circumstances are seeing him go home, not thru ill discipline. Half of Claremont Colts are rippers this year. Manson is a talent.

Think Freo can get him.

Can i ask why nobody took a punt on Shane Kersten last year? He has a 2010 draft profile on the AFL website... as a key forward he must have shown some potential last year, so why now are we hoping to use our first rounder to get him rather than our last pick in the draft (that we didnt upgrade a rookie with) last year?

Has he improved that much this year? And i realise that all clubs overlooked him, its not really a criticism more a genuine question

He was too young. Only GWS could take him then

No idea why he wasn't selected, but if he nominated last year, can we get him in the same way we got Mzungu; via a pick trade with GWS?

On Saturday, Kersten kicked another 6.4 from his 17 kicks (which included a whopping 7 inside 50's for a key forward, quite remarkable) and 7 marks, following from his 5.4 the previous week.

12 kicks 8 marks and 7.2 from Kersten against the Sharks on Saturday.

I would urge anyone who has an interest in seeing some of the young stars of the future to go to the South Fremantle vs Claremont, colts Second Semi this weekend.

There could be up to 10 players from these clubs drafted over the next couple of years.

Disagree. We need a KPF now. I think the only way is to get a mature age recruit in at KPF. Where from and who I've no idea.

We take the best available with our first pick as usual, draft boards are not set in stone based on need. We could have 2-3 players rated ahead of the available KPF on our board, thinking they'd be gone by our pick. Instead one or two are still there (eg. Pitt) so you go for him.

By the sounds of it, the best available at pick 16 is going to be a key defender, which one,who knows. Be great if we could get a replacement for maca.2013 Fullback = SNOS , CHB in 2013 = ??
