So what do we want in the 2011 draw?

When will it be announced?

Id like 9 home games at Geelong, 2 at MCG (pref one against Collingwood and one against Hawthorn).

Would love 2 of our MCG home games to be Friday night.

Mix of saturday and sunday games would be great too.

GO CATTAS!

i reckon we were blessed with a good run this year.

expect it to be harder in 2011.

and i prefer sat night>>>fri night.

I wouldn't mind 8 home games at Skilled and 3 at the 'G against Hawthorn, Collingwood and the Saints. The last time we had a home game against St.Kilda was 2006!

A bye in the last round to freshen up for the finals would be nice too. ;)

8 home games at Skilled (Western Bulldogs, Melbourne, North Melbourne, Fremantle, West Coast, Brisbane, Adelaide/Port Adelaide, Sydney) and 3 at the 'G against Collingwood, Hawthorn and St. Kilda/Carlton.
And also, less Friday night matches, it is a huge inconvenience for me and many others to travel straight up to Melbourne after work on Friday nights, combined with the traffic and pure hassle involved in attending such matches.

statistically our loses over the last 3 years have come at night, and at the G.
So if we play the G, let it be day time, and as few night fixtures at any ground as possible.

im not sure what it is, maybe the preparation of the boys isn't quite right for night games.

Agree and made that point elsewhere. Maybe we have to train at night in those weeks leading to a night game.

Pfft, you can almost be certain that Collingwood will get the last round bye.....

According to Hutchy's column in Sunday's Herald Sun, apparently we are going to be playing Hawthorn on the Tuesday Afternoon after Anzac Day as it will also be public holiday because Anzac Day falls on Easter Monday next year!

If that's the case we will probably have our first bye in round 5 or 6

This one bloody does my head in. I was having a rant about this last year. How it can happen in todays day an age is baffling.
My theory on this one is the AFL refuse to send them to Skilled and dont think we're a big enough draw with them in melbourne for a home game as opposed to Pies, Hawks, Dons, Blues.

I want 8 games at skilled. I think we'll get (not exactly what i'd want) home against Pies, Blues and Hawks in Melbourne.
If this happened we'd only get away games against Dons, Dogs and Saints because the AFL would refuse to send them to Skilled.
We'd be going for the record of most away games against a team in a row with Saints if this happened.

I'm not sure Hybrid7. I read somewhere the bottom 3 teams from this year would get the byes in the last 3 rounds, but as I said I'm not positive.

As for the Cats home games - I'd be happy with 8 at Skilled and 3 at the MCG (St.Kilda,Collingwood,Hawthorn) hopefully not Etihad. With GC in the comp next year, you can back it in the Cats will get a minimum 5 if not 6 interstate trips. Hopefully home game again last round.

Draw will come out end of October which baffles me. I think it's already been finalised so why not just release it instead of all this cloke and dagger stuff and speculation of who will play who and where.

No Monday night games.
Less Friday night games.
More 2pm saturday and sunday games please.

2011 Marquee games

I reckon Geelong v Collingwood to open the season would be awesome. Just hope its not Richmond v Carlton again!

Also would like us to play Hawthorn in a big Friday night game!

Apparently we are in the running for Gold Coasts first game at Carrarra as well.

What other marquee games would we like to see?

Re: 2011 Marquee games

I dont mind SUnday games...i love Friday night games :D although it makes the rest of the weekend boring :D

Re: 2011 Marquee games

Couldn't care less what days they are, as long as I give work notice i'll always get them off. But I do enjoy the Sunday arvo games, just nice to kick back with a few Bruski's at the end of the week.

As far as who we play, wouldn't mind seeing a couple of Essendon, Hawthorn and Collingwood games. Collingwood and Hawthorn are always good games, and I just love the look on my mates face when we smash the Don's. It's what I live for, haha.

Re: 2011 Marquee games

Nah, not Collingwood....then we'll have to see them unveil their flag....it was bad enough when it was Hawthorn.
I think a Grand Final replay is the way to open the season, and i reckon it's a shoe in for the Friday night in round 1.
A clash against the Dogs or North at Etihad on a Sunday would suit nicely for Round 1 i reckon next year, but it wouldn't surprise me if we started interstate (or worse, finished the season interstate)

A lot less night games Geelong doesn't play that well at night so would be happy to see more sat arvo games at the G.

Anyone got any news on the draw? By this time every year we usually have a few ideas...anyone?

Expect more monday games to run final trials before the 2012 extra game, and more thursday games. Does anyone know how many games are being played next year?

Hope we play the dons 10 times next year , I mean with a list like there's even West coast are drulling at the thought of playing them twice .

Even though I live in Melbourne Id love 11 games at Skilled. We are unbeatable there and bugger it, its about positioning yourself in the top 4, nothing else matters. Obviously Im not considering gate takings etc that one gets from the MCG. Id happily play Hawthorn Collingwood Melbourne and Richmond as our away matches at the G so we are at least used to the ground :)

Oh and definitely an away at the GC. I reckon there will be more rabid Cat fans taking a weekend vacation at the game, than actual metre maid$ "fans"
