Far out I hate it how it's based on weekly rankings. Playing a guy who scored 1300 last week :)p) but is ranked in the top 50. I should win still, but looking at his team I dunno!

Lol what? No one in the top 50 scored below 1700, let alone 1300. And if they did they'd be quickly out of the top 5000.

I can't see who i'm playing either. It just says status active.

When i refresh the page my team and opponant pop up and then they disappear.

Could it have anything to do with IE? I'm dumbfounded.

Put your cursor at the start of the "your current eliminator" etc and drag over the entire box, then copy highlighted section and paste into word - it will show up your rd 6 eliminator ranking and your opponent. then just right click on opponent and "open hyperlink" to show team in new window

Love having eliminator back. Think its a great idea although the prize isn't that great. As others have said, alot alot of luck involved but thats just the nature of it.

Forgot this even existed.

I hate how matchups are done on weekly rank and not overall rank.

On this....i really like it. It keeps you on edge because a poor week could mean a great opponent the following. If it didnt have this format, it would not be as interesting to me. Your opponents would get progressively harder but the first 4-5+ rounds should be regulation wins.

I can't see my opponent either, have even logged out and back in.

Must be starting at #1 and #262,144 and matching them up towards the middle as it seems the guys in the top couple of thousand have found out their opponent 1st??

I'm ranked about 8000th so hopefully not too long to wait!

Not really sure how it works. I'm ranked 1100 but i can't see mine either. Pretty sure we'll be safe however lol.

Playing TheMarshFC scored 1225 last round and average 1351.8 yet i would not say their team is terrible.

They have Liberatore, Curnow, Boyd, Goddard, Conca, Gysberts in their midfield so that is pretty quality and probably better than my depleted midfield this week (No Swan or Pendles).

Playing backs are Gibbs, Enright, Milburn, Batchelor, Martin, Frawley so not terrible but they will cop a zero unless Schoenmakers or Astbury play. I think this is my area with greatest advantage though, i have 6 premiums and they have 3.

Rucks = Brogan, Jolly, Fraser so again not bad

Forwards aren't bad but some with injury issues:

Riewoldt x 2, Nahas, Gia, Hall, Schneider, Tapscott, Jurrah, Ballyntyne so 9 there are ok although Hall will miss and Gia may too.

Think its a decent opponent first up, probably capable of 1800 but surely I won't lose.

Super excited for this to be back, lasted till round 15 or 16 i think last year (last 128 or 256 i believe) so did pretty good but recall getting absolutely destroyed by a team ranked in the top 150 just before getting to the final 64:(

EDIT: In response to Benjie, use the method suggested by Freo2012 on the previous page, worked for me.

Thanx, hey it's working.:thumbsu:

You could also be matched up against a great team coming off a bad week and get knocked out pretty early.

will I win?

maybe they're saving themselves for the eliminator

Exactly and thats what i like about it. At first I hated the format but I think as a side competition it is good. I think it also gives those people that start with a rather poor team but trade brilliantly a chance at a prize other than weekly. I know its annoying to catch a gun team off a poor week in one of the first few rounds of the eliminator, and you'd think that would happen more often with byes this year, but i like the uncertainty of it. In the end, the final 64 teams will probably all be very good and deserving, IIRC thats what has happened the last 2 years.

Must say that was quite unlucky for you that they decreased it from 5000 to 1000 last year IIRC, only for them to increase it again this year. Any tips for this year?:p

Was 10k when they first introduced it as well, plus only 128k participants. But cash is cash, can't complain.

I found that having trades in hand towards the end of the year was the main differentiating factor (as well as solid cover and a durable team), I faced lots of teams who were stuck with 0s and no way to cover/trade which resulted in easy wins. Similar strategies to league wins would work well, as you're building towards the stronger teams towards the end of year (similar to building to finals). My strategy has always been to come home strong as I also want to win my mates league, it means that I've been fairly conservative which have cost me some ranking positions. However, this approach has worked well with the eliminator.

This year with the byes though there's not much you can do. You may run into a team with no swan in the pies bye for example.

Wish i could join in on the lols but my opponents team is half decent:
http://afl.virtualsports.com.au/?p=other_teams&tid=253027

B: Goddard, Enright, Deledio, Gibbs, Grimes, Stanley, Lower (Tarrant, Mckernan)
C: Swan, Bartel, Mitchell, Boak, Heppell, Libba (Harris, Gaff)
R: Cox, Sandilands (Petrie, Smith)
F: Franklin, Goodes, Zaharakis, Darling, Tapscott, Krakouer, Varcoe (Matera, Giansiracusa)

If they trade out a cash cow they could bring in Fyfe for Gia.
Im missing Swan and Pendlebury this week....

Suprisingly, this team did terrible last round.

Ouch, a very dangerous team first up.

Gotta love looking at a team and seeing the usual suspects in the first few names then looking further and seeing these no names! :D

Gilham, Pettigrew, McGovern (who?), Webster, RHYS OKeffe
N.Jetta, Simpkin, Wanganeen (making a comeback?), Twomey, Browne

..and finally the worst fwd line Ive seen this year:
Knights, JRoo, Betts, Rioli, Yarran, Tippet, Matera, Ebert, Griffiths, VonBertouch.

Gotta love the "Speculative midpricers and no name rooks" strategy! :thumbsu:
