I dont like byes, besides the fact that the ladder will not be a true indication until all teams have played the same amount of games!
When you've got an odd number of teams in the competition then byes become a fact of life. Everything is back to normal from 2012 onwards, when we have 18 teams in the competition.

Why are we playing Collingwood away again and not at home? Would help boost our crowds and revenue.

Steven Trigg actually said that they would've liked to play Carlton or Collingwood at AAMI, but this actually wasnt a request they put forward, so they cant be too disappointed. Still, carlton and collingwood at a good time slot would surely draw >43,000.

Agree, Saturday arvo's are the big worry as they conflict with Amateur league football and IIRC we have many thousands of people playing and involved with such games, especially in the Country, many of whom make up our membership base.

I understand your predicament, but the crowd numbers from last season tell a different story.

I had a quick browse through of last years results and found that Saturday crowd numbers were much healthier than Sunday games. I didnt average it out but it would be in the few thousands.

The traditional time slot for footy was always Saturday afternoon. If anyone should alter their timetables it should be amateur league footy. Why cant they look at the AFL draw before the start of the season and work around it rather than against it.

For me, Saturday is much better. I work in the morning, and then go to the footy in the afternoon. This leaves Sunday as time I can spend with my family and time to do stuff around the house.

Now I'm not a big drinker by any means, but its nice to have a couple of quiet ones after the game and relax. I will only touch the amber ale on a Friday night or a Saturday.

Kids sports are in the morning either Sat or Sun so it isn't part of the equation.

Yep, already booked flights for the 23rd of April. :)

A night game at the dome against the blue baggers, awesome.

We go to Perth in the last round? Great finals prep right there, why don't they send a Richmond or Melb to Perth in last round, idiots.

Don't know if this has been mentioned but I'm going to mention,
No Crows in Sydney AGAIN!!

Absolute disgrace!

NSW fans forgotten again!
And there are quite a few of us (or there use to be) perhaps the GWS will soak up some of the "forgotten" hoards.

Crows should look after their interstate supporters a bit better than this!

Because it's even further for them?

Plus I'm fairly certain we haven't had to do the last round Perth trip for the past couple years.

 lets blame the Crows for neglecting our NSW fans, when it's the AFL not putting games there

I normally agree with your thoughts CG but really why should it matter if it is further for them? It is a supposed national comp, should be rotated between ALL clubs in the league. In reality if this comp was as 'fair' as it is supposed to be we should only be doing it once a decade.

It's not supposed to be fair, the AFL have never said its a fair system. The draw is even but not fair, and they make no qualms about it not being fair.

It's all about the teams that are likely to be playing in finals. The stats tell us all that teams that return from Perth usually lose the following week. THe fact that we go to Qld then WA in three weeks then embark on a finals series is a tough ask I reckon. I m pretty sure we played Freo in 2001 in the last round over there and we also played WC in 2005 in the last round. Why not send a team that is not likely to make the finals over there and make it fair for all?

I was talking the competition as a whole not just the fixture (refuse to call it a draw)

Point still remains, it is a fixture that should be spread around the whole league, not just a select few.

You are saying the Crows are blameless?

I assume you're trying to imply that we didn't ask for any NSW games. Is this just a guess or have our requests been published somewhere?

It's not as though ignoring our requests and just doing whatever they feel like is unusual for the AFL or anything. I think your ire is midirected.

Why are you complaining? Surely we have a better record against them at Docklands anyway? Surely people would complain more if Collingwood NEVER played a game away from the MCG.
Who said I was complaining? I was merely asking the question. As of late our games against collingwood have been at the G and I was curious as to why this one won't be.

Not too bad a fixture overall. I like the timing of our second bye and the fact we've got a few more Fri/Sat night games.

My little whinge however is the amount of times that Melbourne teams travel. I haven't had a super close look at it yet, but does Carlton only leave Melbourne 3 times??? Collingwood 4 times??

BTW - is the AFL trying to bury NM??

I'm happy with this fixture. We get a solid amount of Fri/Sat night matches as well as more FTA coverage. My one knock is the Perth trip in round 24, if we are in finals contention and that game is on a Sunday, then that will be nothing short of disgraceful. Also, why is the Collingwood game at Etihad?

It won't be scheduled for Sunday if we're in finals contention.

I just watched Rucci's 'analysis' of the draw, very funny stuff.
Let's see:
Port Power tie? Check
Pathetic comb-over? Check
Rotten teeth reflecting his rotten core? Check!

I couldn't get past what he looked like to hear what he said but I'd be certain it was 'good for crows, poor port' or something like that. No wonder he is on radio and in print.

Another twilight Showdown... When will the AFL learn Adelaide/Port Adelaide don't want Sunday twilight showdowns!

Overall an alright FIXture.
