Anyway, that trailer was very good. The game was initially announced about 3-4 years ago and has been thought of numerous times as being vapourware. IGN tweeted yesterday they had a really good trailer coming for a long forgotten game and this was obviously it.

Basic premise is that it's a zombie game set on an open world island. Was initially going to be a PC/360 exclusive, but has now been opened up to PS3 as well.

If Dead Island sounds familiar to you, then you have a good memory. It was originally announced in 2007, but no publisher was officially attached. Techland worked on other projects in the years since, but Dead Island was slowly shuffling along in the background. Now, Deep Silver is on board, and the game seems likely to see the light of day. It's scheduled for a 2011 release on Xbox 360, PC and PS3, but no specific dates have been revealed yet.

The Royal Palms Resort is perched on the remote island of Banoi in Papua New Guinea. It's a tropical paradise turned tourist magnet, remote and exotic. Not the sort of place you'd expect to find scattered caches of weapons, boxes of grenades, rocket launchers leaning against walls, and mounted machine guns. In an effort to preserve that reality, Techland, the developers of Dead Island, have stripped those handy gaming conventions away, leaving a stark reality in their place.

Yeah cheers for that. Tried to find some gameplay footage on youtube, found some, but couldn't believe how utterly shit and last gen it looked.

Then saw vid was from 2007 and wtf'd

Saw a preview of this on Gamespot. Epic is used too much but this is what it is. Never played any of the total war series but like strategy games and that preview has blown me away. BLOooOOOoooWN!

My comp probably won't handle it. For a strategy game the graphics are amazing.
 
That was a damn sweet trailer, very movie like. I remember hearing a while ago that soon gaming will become more popular than films with the way they're constantly making dramatic story lines and prioritising cinematics in games these days.

I only got 3 on the radar:
- AFL 2011
- L.A. Noire
- Fight Night Champion

But I'll have to keep an eye on this thread for more potential ways of wasting my time

...really. Here I was complaining about the game being first person view from a clip I obviously thought was in game despite the complete lack of first person perspective in the clip and the fact that it was backwards.

I also don't really get how First Person ruins the awesome looks anyway?
 
Hmm. Dead Island looks interesting. A bit of I am Alive about the whole games development thus far though.

Sorry, would've been more accurate to say the concept of the game sounds awesome.

Ruins it for me, I can't stand first person games :(
