2011 rivalries and bets

Each year there is a fair bit of competition for the top ranking league in Australia. Unfortunately there are no prizes for this.

In 2010 YSCC Elites had a bet with another group about which league would finish higher in the rankings - winner takes all.

We would like to offer this bet again. If you are part of a league that you think could challenge for the top spot then we are happy to take you on. We think this creates a lot more interest in the league competition and is quite a bit of fun. In 2010 the bet was $800 per league or $50 per team. Each team doesnt have to pay $50 as some teams can pay more. I am happy to offer this same bet to any group, or we can negotiate the amount involved.

Yeah exactly. I was in the league that lost to them last year but we had two or three head overseas mid-year and it was too difficult to organise people to cover their teams etc. Means you only have 1/16th influence over your $50. Not for me.

I'd be happy to take someone on for some decent $$$...but with a twist.

You nominate one team in your league of god almighty allstars and i'll put my puny team up against them.

Make it $500. You guys can split the buy-in or decide on one player to take me on.

Makes the league seriously interesting....oh, and watching the boring teams play!

We are looking to make this bet as a team. We dont have big individual egos but are willing to back our group against any other group in the country.

I would have thought that 1 of BF elites, BF Division 1/2/3, tooserious, FFC, DT talk, or any other group would be willing to back themselves against us... but apparently they are not.

bigfooty div 1 is cert. elite enough, but if they have the dough is another question.

think about it, they spend their time working on SC teams, they have to be dole bludgers

I was in BF Div 2 last year and I think we finished top 5.

Exactly.

It just takes 1 member from these leagues to make a bet.

BF Div1/2 should definitely finish top 10. Surely someone wants to back them in to create some interest

Why on earth would you want to make a bet on something that you only have 6.25% influence on (or, in other words, is 93.75% in the hands of others)?

All I am doing is stating the obvious, which is when you make a league bet you really have no control over your league's performance, and since the circumstances of others may change it may see you kissing your dough goodbye through no fault of your own.

Haha. sorry if i sound desperate to support my own group. The thread had 0 responses so needed to bump. it has recieved many responses since i bumped it.

You have posted a whole bunch of negative stuff in this thread. i think we got the message that you didnt want in on the bet with your first post. Im not sure why you have continued on (especially if you feel that you are stating the obvious). Hence why i thought u may have been motivated by being sour about losing last year. I thought you may have actually liked the chance to take revenge.

Just because u dont want to bet against us again is no reason for you to constantly post why you think others should not. Its not my fault that you cant trust your fellow group members, i feel like i can trust mine.

No there isn't a problem at all. And the majority of SuperCoach involves knowing the news and participating in forums. Which is exactly what you are doing.

The term "fantasy" gives the wrong impression. Anyone betting on AFL, or joining a tipping competition, they are also part of "fantasy" football. That being, making an estimation, then being held accountable for said estimation.

So cut the condescending BS.
