Yep you lack the understanding of what was going on.

No one gave up the ghost after cancellara attacked, simply after 200km+ everyone was hurting, everyone in that pack was redlining after Boonen hit them and then Cancellara countered, it takes time to recover from that. That and the team with the most riders left in the main chase pack is usually made to give chase by the other teams which usually takes a few km to actually organise. No point sending 2 men to the front to blow themselves to pieces and leave your main chance unprotected.

BMC pegged back a little of the time and then the jockeying for position before the final climb brought him back rapidly.

Regards Sky, they went in with Flecha as there main weapon (and rightly so) with Thomas backing him up, I would suggest that mid to late race Flecha gave Thomas the green light to race for himself, hence thomas's attacking riding in the final km's.

I have been watching classics racing since you were in diapers son.

It seems the race lacked with GVA moving and Hoste moving, and Rabo really disappointing post Boogerd, and Boonen not having Devolderke on his hip and doing a one two.

and I am not that old, was being facetious dude.

seems in past years, the field was more competitive. Devolder, Ballan, Ivanov, all more prominent, and lesser lights with small profiles like Bjorn "my name aint Bjorg but Leukemans and my Italian doc who prescribed the testo was Cadel's especially requested doc or preparatore". Hincapie was really disappointing because when the field came back together, it was probably his final chance at a doyenne, and the seppos never stop lauding him.
