@Aussie Gun

I think you're under rating fletch. He has been playing full back ever since Myers went out of the side with injury and has still been providing good rebound. He hasn't been beaten but the best player he has played on is Dawes.

Maybe. Apart from the Carlton game I think he has just been good at best rather than AA material, which he seems to be in the media. I don't have an issue with him not playing on the best key forward, I don't think that is ever an issue because he provides enough in a 3rd man up/rebounding role to compensate.

Has he been a standout though, you could make a case for Hardingham and Hooker having a better season from Essendon alone. Essendon should have more than just two players in the top 50, so I guess it's him as the 3rd player in (maybe Crameri). Borderline though. Having said that, I've missed halves here and there from Essendon games this year, so I'm not going to be an accurate judge.

Subscribed, always enjoy this thread AG.

Jobe!!! Spent all last year arguing for him, he can't go any higher now!

I'd say Hooker is generally pretty under rated. He has played on the likes of Hall, Goodes, Riewoldt, Cloke, Kennedy and Clark this year and I think the biggest bag he has given up was Cloke with 3 (and he got a few goal square cheapies...) Is also usually good for 15 or 20 touches.

My $0.02.

Hooker is a fantastic player. Kennedy was beating him last week and came back and nullified him in the second half. Seemed to do what he liked on Saturday night.

Has just got a lot of attributes that make you think he'll be a top-tier defender.

Easy.

Trying to do it now, so either tonight or tomorrow I'll post it.

A bit of a gap to the top 11, which at the moment I'm leaning towards:

Watson
Mundy
Swan
Franklin
Judd
Rhyce Shaw (jokes, Heath)
Cox
Bartel
Pendlebury
Fyfe
Murphy

Selwood/Ablett will be the big movers.

Reckon Judd drops. Bar the Sydney game where he was phenomenal, don't think he's had any BOG games. Consistently good but Murph's been comfortably our best this season, I would have thought.

Scotland should probably be in there somewhere. Hasn't played a bad game all season - and last. Been better than Walker, Curnow and probably Garlett as well. Jamison and Garlett probably about right.

ROUND 8:

As the season wears on I'll spend more time on figuring out the order but up until the mid season break I just want the right players in. This is up to the end of R8, so last night hasn't been included. As I'll keep saying, I'm not watching as much this year so I won't be defending the choices as much because there is no doubt there will be more dodgy choices compared to previous years I've done this.

Defenders are the hard one this year. No idea really. Richards, Gibson, Glass, Reid, and the Bomber guys all could be in, so them along with Harvey and Corey would fill a lot of the next 10 spots if I did a top 60.

EDIT: Forgot to do the weekly movements, so I'll start doing that next week.

Love ya work Aussie. :thumbsu:

Just wondering though, shouldn't Selwood be higher considering he just got his 3rd BOG in a row, and had another game when he came close to best as well, I think it was against the Hawks.

Not including last night. This is a delayed list from R8. Selwood will go top 15 at least for next week. I'd go Kelly, Selwood, Bartel in that order for Geelong now. Corey just quietly going about his business as well.

Selwood has two write-offs at the start of the year and it's hard to position players who have missed games. Watson is going to miss a few games now and this brings about the issue of recent form > early form.

If Selwood plays well in the next few weeks, then come R10 I'd say his season is about on par with Watson's. Both had a couple of games ruined with injury, had the bye and been very good in all the rest. But I bet most will have Selwood talked up as an AA player and say Watson has been injured and fallen out. That's where it's wrong, and early season form gets forgotten.

At season's end it's easier to position them but while they are playing catch up or actually injured it's tricky. Hopefully that made sense.

How would you rate Geelong's players BN this year? Including last night.

As you said Selwood affectively has missed 2 games so I can see where you are coming from, but i still think he's been Geelong's best this year from the games he has played.

I would probably go - Selwood, Kelly, Johnson, Bartel, Scarlett.

Johnson the surprising one. He'd move into the unluckies for next week, so I must be completely underrating his season due to his high standards. I'll swap Selwood and Kelly then. I think you're right in regards to the games played. That's why I'll probably keep Watson at no.1 even if he misses the next couple of games.

For next week I'd go:

Selwood
Kelly
Bartel
Scarlett
Chapman
Corey - will come in
----------- (top 50 line)
Enright - close to a certainty to fall out (my man love for him can only go so far)
Johnson
Ottens - will fall out
Lonergan
Taylor - struggled a bit last night but has been decent this year

Johnson isn't kicking the goals he has in the past only because he's playing a majority of the game in the midfield. I have actually been critical of him in the past playing that role, but he's been super this year.

I agree with you on Enright. I think he's been well down on his usual standards the last few weeks.

Maybe that's why I haven't taken notice of him, because he isn't kicking goals.
Buddy going to go up again I'm guessing? Must be hard for you after today's game to do that haha, Shiels is doing quite well for the Hawks aswell

Might want to keep your eye on Jono Brown he's probably going to force himself in eventually.

This week. Ablett too high? He has been his usual self but miht be 10ish spots too high. Easy top 25 though.

Just thinking that he has only had the one standout game (Adelaide), with two solid games (Ess & PA). Compared to players like Griffen (Two or three standout and a couple solid) or Embley (Three standout) or Cotchin (Three or four standout games) or Martin (two standout, couple solid) or Mumford (couple of each).

Not sure he can be rated ahead of any/all of these.

Love your work AG as always... but as always I will look at might team...

It seems a little inconsistent that Murph moves 7 spot near the top of the list... but Scotto remains at the same spot as the previous week, near the bottom of the list... even though Scotto was best on ground... ahead of Murph (just, but ahead)...

It's going to be inconsistent this year, simply because I'm not spending as much time on it. The movements have to take into consideration the players around as well, it's not just the player in question. Plus I'll change things around based on what I read mid week.

Forgot Roughead for the unluckies. Again I would have forgotten a few.
