The list is great but I can't believe how much Judd is underrated, even by Carlton fans. Maybe it's because I only watch him on TV, but IMO he's still the most influential player in the game.

My Top 10:

1. Judd
2. Ablett
3. Pendlebury
4. Cox
5. Murphy
6. Franklin
7. Mitchell
8. Wells
9. Swan
10. Bartel

Judd isn't underrated by this Carlton fan, Clearly IMO is the most influential player in the league and clearly carlton best player. Sure murphy has improved this year, however to say is is playing better than Judd is a joke, it isn't all about stats. It is about impact on a game and Judd impacts a game more than most. When you are at the games you can see this more, than just watching on the TV.

He is judged so much harder than anyone else in the competition (obviously hated around here). The umpires seem to appreciate the influence he has on a game and IMO is still in the box seat to win his 3rd brownlow medal this year. Judd will get the 3's, Murphy will and up with the 1's and 2's and IMO I would say Judd would be leading Carlton's votes. May not win the B&F for Carlton, that's becuase of different expectations of each player and as I have said Judd is judged at such a higher level to that of his peers, having said that there is still 1/2 the season to go, so things can change.

Griffen amazing today. 3 goals 2 behinds, 28 touches. He is having a great year. He has to be close to top 10.
Boyd just keps racking up the touches. They aren't very damaging though. Turns it over a lot.
10 mins into the first quarter, Boyd hadn't had a touch, or any stat. That shows how quickly he can accumulate a lot of touches.

Some thoughts from Syd v Coll:

Cloke - awesome, apart from his set-shot conversion. Was rather poor in that area with 6.4. Still BOG.

Pendlebury - was thereabouts. Pretty good last quarter. Still probably a handful of better players on the night including his direct opponent (for some of the match) in Bolton.

Bolton - Good game. Lots of hard work.

O'Keefe - Was arguably Sydney's best player (could also be Kennedy). Worked really hard and had the better of his dual with Wellingham (who was coming off his best ever game).

Swan - A good game with a few iffy touches (if I recall correctly). Only Cloke and Ball were better Pies players IMO.

Ball - fantastic in-and-under game and a great snap goal. Should come into the 50.

Goodes
- not great but had a deal of influence on Sydney's ability to stay with the Pies.

Thomas - meh. Good quarter-and-a-half then rarely sighted when the game got close. 3 behinds was disappointing as well.

Shaw - got beaten by Hannebery but wasn't bad.

Reid - smashed his brother. Great game.

Cloke was enormous. Machine.

Kennedy our best imo. O'Keefe, Bolton and Goodes (second half) were good. That's about it for the Swans in contention for the 50. Richards and Mumford (missing games) fall away now. Kennedy is one of those borderline selections for the actual 50. That's probably our top 4 in the B&F now.

Ball and Swan excellent. Pendlebury had another weird game, time stands still for him when he gets the ball and did a few good things but it wasn't an influential game from him. Thomas a bit of a nothing performance. Shaw was good imo, very good in the 1st half. Reid solid, wouldn't say he smashed his brother but he won the duel. Tarrant was the dominant defender on the ground. Neon was pretty good as well and has put together a great run of form at the moment.

Bolton
O'Keefe
Goodes
---------
Kennedy (unlucky, might sneak in but I doubt it)

Pendlebury
Thomas
Cloke
Shaw
Swan
Ball
Reid
---------
Davis (unlucky)

That's probably how I'd have it atm.

Good, so we basically agree on everything about this game except whether Reid smashed or just beat his brother in their contest.

This makes me happy on the inside.

Haha, Ben definitely won the battle, it's just lack of opportunities for Sam for practically two quarters, plus he took a couple of contested grabs is why I wouldn't call it a smashing.

Cloke on Grundy, now that's a smashing. Grundy would have been better off bringing his sleeping bag and settling in for the night in the goal square.

I only watched parts of last night's game (flicking between the two), but Pavlich was best on ground from what I saw. Consider strongly for a top 50 spot.

I also thought Fyfe was very good again, but he made some mistakes I guess. McPharlin went off injured. Sandilands will work his way back.

Yeah, Pavlich went in last week in my head. Just didn't have time to finish the list. Likewise Ball, R.Murphy and Goldstein already in. Sort of lost track over the last two weeks but atm those 4 are in. Rutten and Mumford went out, can't remember the other two.

Riewoldt will probably go out this week.

I'll try and update the unluckies as well. Struggling with Essendon, Hawthorn (apart from Birchall) and WC. Haven't seen much of those three over the last month.

Below is what I have at the moment:

Moloney
Frawley
Sylvia
Trengove

doyou serioualy have Gibson, Jamison,Scotland, Fisher, Deledio, Goldstein, Priddis, Murpjy, Mundy, McPharlin in the top 50 .. yet u have no James Frawley?:eek:

ROFL you tool.

Jamison will be the AA fullback, Goldstein probably an AA ruckman, Deledio may be an AA HBF and Mundy was one of the form players in the competition in the first half of the year.

Frawley has missed a fair chunk of the year.

Guys like Petrie, who along with Travis Cloke and Franklin, is one of the best forwards in the game atm, can't sneak on there, and you reckon Frawley is a gimme?

You going to boot Gibbs out for Trengove?

Sylvia? Brent Harvey isn't on that list, and he is averaging 24 disposals a game and has kicked 22 goals.......

he missed Round 1

He was missing in action for first 6 weeks of year, his form in that time disgusting but I guess you are like a fish and only remember his few games. There would easilly be 15-20 backs that have been better than him this year.

Some thoughts from the Carl v WCE game:

Murphy - was good. Lot of gut running. However, there were plenty better. Players like Lynch, Priddis, Shuey, Yarran, Scotland, Schofield, S. Selwood, Kerr, Smith, Mackenzie and Glass all had better games.

Judd - was poor. Was not seen in the first half and only adequate in the second. Great job by Scott Selwood and Shuey. Should slide.

Scotland - only had him behind Yarran in their best (mind you there were plenty of better Eagles).

Gibbs - monstered by BOG Lynch. Doesn't help his chances.

Walker - smashed by Schofield and Mackenzie. Was rarely sighted and had no scoreboard impact.

Cox - consistent game. Probably shaded by Naitanui (mostly for the hanger but also for his awesome tackling).

Kennedy
- huge first half but strangely well-contained when Henderson moved onto him. Go figure.

Priddis - among the best on the ground. Good four quarter performance.

Wouldn't really have any Essendon players in the unluckies imo. Our best players over the last few weeks have been Jetta, Zaharakis, Lonergan and Stanton. Back from them Hooker, Heppell, Hardingham, Fletcher, blah blah blah. Obviously losing 5 in a row means we've been pretty poor and our player placements reflect that. On form over the entire season Hooker would probably be closest to the 50, but still back a bit. Been better than Frawley though. :D

There is absolutely no chance in hell Frawley will be named AA this year.

tap_my_scott = this years ablett09

Frawley is very quickly closing the gap to his rivals. As has been mentioned he missed round 1 and then took 3 or 4 weeks to really hit top form but has been sensational since then. At the moment I have Scarlett, Jamison and McPharlin all ahead of him but with Jamison and McPharlin injured on the weekend Frawley is going to have the chance to go past them in the coming weeks.

Trengove would be in the 40's if not for missing 3 games with suspension. Has been ultra consistent so far this year. The suspension costs him though and he is probably in the unluckies for me.

Sylvia probably going under the radar a bit. Hasn't had the BOG performances this year but has been among Melbourne's top 3 or 4 every week. Consistency is not something you associate with Colin but he has been super this year. Could maybe sneak into the bottom 10 players on the list/just miss.

If we're talking about Frawley's chances then perhaps we should also be discussing Glass. Doesn't really generate anything offensively but defensively would have to be the best backman in the game at the moment. I don't know the exact amount his opponent's have kicked on him (perhaps someone can help me with that?) but I'm sure it's rather meagre.

Surkin > tap_my_scott

Still rate Rivers ahead of Frawley so far. Martin as well.

Frawley is closing but still around 7thish best player for Melbourne this year.

Spot on AG. Rivers and Martin are both having a really good, consitent year (both after say rd 5/6 :p) but neither are in the top 50 players in the AFL.

@ Surkin; Sylvia is having a pretty good year also but his form is not good enough to replace anyone on this list.

I think the list is pretty good myself. :thumbsu:

Glad to see Fisher with credit, I still think he should be higher but it isn't that important. The amount of players we've had in poor form really shows in our output this year.

What are your views on Steven, Armitage, McEvoy, Gwilt, Ray and Dawson? Probably our best players this year and next in line for being on the list.
