It's not any different to how it would be at any other GS. They can't shift the match to Arthur Ashe - not only because it would eat into the night session, but also because people have paid to see the match on Grandstand. How would you like it if you shelled out for a middle-weekend ticket to Hisense and they shifted one of the 2 singles matches to Rod Laver?
Doubles gets priority because it was the match scheduled first.

Yup. They still manage to fill it out though.Hisense you have to pay extra for these days? What a rort.

You said it, an insane tiebreak with an insane amount of choking, both players had the chance to end it way, way earlier than it eventually did. I'm very happy with the win, but there's no way it should've gone to a 3rd.Again, crazy mental strength from Sam, who knew Sam could become a mental giant at a slam like the US Open. Maria picked her game up in the 2nd, seemed to approach the net a lot more and Sam couldn't hit a passing shot to save her life. The TB was ridciolous, both players should of won it 3 or 4 times. But the main thing Sam was able to stay with Kirilenko early in the 3rd and go out and get the break. From there Sam closed out the match nicely.
Thankfully Vera was able to beat Lisicki, I saw Sam play Lisicki in Stanford and well Sam was actually playing decent but just got beat, mind you Lisicki didn't show that form tonight. I'll expect a night match, could go either way, Sam will have the upper head with the H2H
an insane amount of choking.
Well, I reckon there were about 4 or 5 points in a row that ended from UE, especially Kirilenko who dumped about 3 into the net. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it, it was a great TB, but each player blew so many chances.I think that's a bit harsh, there was definately some nervous shots but Sam was very stiff on about 4 of those match points. Just a very good quality match all round imo.
Why is Federer/Monaco (most one-sided 4R ever?)
