2011 US Open

Well, I reckon there were about 4 or 5 points in a row that ended from UE, especially Kirilenko who dumped about 3 into the net. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it, it was a great TB, but each player blew so many chances.

What's with the US Open's scheduling?? Why is Federer/Monaco (most one-sided 4R ever?) the night session ahead of Fish/Tsonga? That means that the best 4R match by a mile will start at like 6am our time. :o

Yeah, on at least 3 of those match points Sam had she hit errors, there was defiantely a bit of choking involved, good play by both overall though.

It's Labour Day weekend over there and that means a FTA station (CBS) over there shows the day session and gets prioity of the matches they want. Obivously Fish/Tsonga is the match of the day so CBS will want to show that so it's on in the day session. same thing has happened over the weekend with matches like Azarenka/Williams showed in the day session instead of the night.

Nadal vs Muller

No, Muller's serve will keep the score relatively close. Arguably if the real Andy Murray shows up his match with Young could be the most one-sided 4th rounder ever (I ouldn't think about their match in Miami). I don't think Matosevic is good enough to make the top 100 but he had a realistic shot of making the 4th round with his bunny Young in the 3rd sickeningly enough.

Preety happy with Sam coming into the tournment i would have been happy with a 4th round effort. Good to see she defends her points. Please beat Zvonareva. Cant belive Donald Young is in the 4th round.

Nadal vs Muller

Actually Muller has played some good games against Nadal. Probably the unseeded player that Nadal would least like to face at the moment.

Interesting trivia- Only 3 players have beaten Nadal at Wimbledon: Federer, Djokovic, and.....Muller.

Why the hell is Djokovic Vs Dolgopolov over on Louis Armstrong and Federer Vs Monaco gets the night session on Athur Ashe. Swap that around.

Federer rates better than Djokovic. When you have the biggest tennis stadium in the world you put your biggest star on the schedule to sell the most tickets.

Have you seen how full the staduim is for Djokovic's match. He is the best tennis player in the world right now. Number 1 in the world carrer best form only lost 2 matches this year. I thought the crowd would have wanted to see him.

Court Louis Armstrong would be even fuller if Federer was playing. He is the biggest brand in world tennis, and especially beloved in NYC. As long as he doesn't drop out of the top 20 or 30 he will play every match on Arthur Ashe until he retires.

Did you see the vox pops of fans that Fox screened earlier in the tournament? A full half cited Federer as the player they most wanted to see, and most of the rest said Nadal or Roddick.

Djokovic is a great player but he's not yet a superstar. Personally I doubt he ever will be, but that's a topic for another thread.

Tsonga through in an epic 5 setter over Fish.

Kuznetsova about to serve for the set against Wozniacki, 6-5.

Tsonga is probably my favourite men's player. I just love his exuberence, he's always happy as well. Pleased to see him get through. Good tournament from Fish though. Sounds like it was a great match, bloody timezone.

Kuznetsova takes the first set over Woz in a tiebreak, is now up 3-0 in the second. Kuznetsova has been a mug for most of the year so we'll see what happens here.

Stars at the open? Amanda Seyfried?

Wozniacki took the 2nd 7-5 and now's got a break in the 3rd. 2-1.

Been a cracking match.

Federer might not start till midnight...

Is there a curfew like the Australian Open?

I think it was a Hewitt and Baghdatis match that made sure things dont get ridiculous

Hopefully the weather (a rain delay) prevails and some kind of common sense prevails

Then again, its New York and nobody really sleeps there

With regards to the late finish theres no issue on the West Coast of America (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver) as its only 8.30 pm over there at the moment

Its ratings gold as far theyre concerned

If One had the rights to the US Open, it would be ratings gold during the work day as well

Im sure people are sick of watching Ellen or Oprah at lunch time... sorry ladies

You do not want to be facing Federer when he's in this type of mood...

12 minutes. 5-0.

It must be so fun to step onto Arthur Ashe and destroy top 40 players like this.

Fed is probably the only player who is still entertaining to watch in whitewashes.

Monaco must surely be half asleep

The game was decided when the clock hit 12 o'clock, Monaco wanted to go to bed, and Monaco was in the way of Federer from advancing
