Aaaand TIRO shows up like clockwork when Federer plays a good match.

QFs time at the Grand Slams - when all the fanbois come out of woodwork.

Apologies for not posting about mostly routine matches during the early stages of a grand slam. I forgot that BigFooty posting history trumps the fact that I've watched basically every point Federer has played thus far and almost certainly more of the entire tournament than you my friend.

Federer was simply supreme out there today. I'm really looking forward to the Tsonga rematch, but hopefully with a different result this time.

I can't imagine that Murray will have much trouble with Young tonight. I know Young beat him at Indian Wells, but Grand Slams are surely a different scenario entirely. Muller might be a little more troublesome for Nadal as we saw at Wimbledon, but I'm still tipping Rafa in straights.

And of course, come on Sam. At the very least she's defended her points, but with her h2h against Zvonareva, and with one of Pennetta/Kerber waiting in the semis, this is a perfect chance to make another GS final.

She has done very well the last few weeks and it has been a welcome return to form and she has confidence at the moment. As always with Sam, that confidence can waver in matches at times, shown in the last couple of matches. But what has been really impressive is her desire to win and competitiveness. I read that the code violation she received for swearing was the first of her career.

It will be a close match again in the 1/4 final against Zvonereva, but if she makes it through to the semi there is no guarantee of a final.

You would have to think that Pennetta will beat Kerber (I line umpired Kerber at the Aus Open qualifiers this year and simply cannot believe she is in a 1/4 final of a grand slam) and face the winner of Stosur/Zvonereva in the semi final. Pennetta and Stosur have played 4 times and Pennetta has won each encounter, only losing 1 set in those 4 matches. One of those matchups that Sam does not like.

But first to beat Vera, hope she can do it (maybe without the stress of the last 2 matches).

Tsonga through in an epic 5 setter over Fish.

Kuznetsova about to serve for the set against Wozniacki, 6-5.
It really wasn't, in fact it was a pretty average match. There were good patches, but not once in the entire match did they both play their best at the same time. I thought for the first 2 hours both players were in sleep mode. 5 setter with mild entertainment.

Yeah the first 3 sets were pretty boring. Windy and both players stuggling to break serve. Tsonga is normally good to watch so I'm blaming Fish.

Play completely washed out.

So that means the Mens Final will be played Tuesday morning our time. I gather?

If so, that is such awesome news considering I have Uni on Monday at 10 (leave at ~9), and may not have been able to watch the entire match if it goes to 4-5 sets. WooHoo!

Solution: play mens and women's finals (Qtr/ Semi and Final) on the same days

You still need three more days to be washed out for that happen

Nah, they still got a couple of days leeway before that happens, 5 days left and still 4 4th rounders to be played. They need to make sure they are done at least tomorrow especially with the rain forecasted.

I've caught up on my sleep with this rain though, there's a positive.

The easy thing is its at the tail end of the tournament so that means less matches actually need to be played, you can play all the semis and mens on a single day because theres only 6 matches (mens and womens combined) that need to be played

Had it been the first week washed out, that would have been a problem

So does this have an effect on the ridiculous men's super saturday thing? Lol that they're still up to round 4, have fun with that USTA.
Its gonna be annoying not being able to follow Stosur though, I have to go to uni in the morn and will be there for 5 hours. I can't not go either because I have a bloody test:thumbsd::thumbsd:, hopefully the news is good when I get home.

Hey Americans- Learn to put a roof on at least one stadium. Are they not the wealthiest country in the world?

Probably shows how irrelevant tennis is to them. Do 75% of the country even care about the US Open?
I once met a group of Americans who were holidaying in Australia. Somehow the conversation got to tennis possibly because the AO was on. And none of them knew who Roger Federer was????? I was actually disgusted by that ignorance!!
I mean do some of them live in a hole?

Providing the weather doesn't interfere again she should be on about 3-4am.

If it does wash out tomorrow, they really should just play the 4th round men's thursday, then all of the quarters on friday, would be fairer on the bottom half.

I don't think they need a roof, weather happens, let's not make every stadium the same because of it.

Faark, wish i didn't have an early start tomorrow otherwise I could of seen Stousr play.

Really interested in seeing how Donald Young goes against Murray too.

Hmmm, looking a the weather websites and radar, it's actually looking good for quite a bit of play. Now to wake up in a few hours time to be it rainign cats and dogs.

The rain's looking good here, I think it'll get up. It looks strong, motivated, and doesn't look likely to go away too soon, I think it'll hang around a bit longer. It's gonna be tough for sun to force it's way back, certainly got its work cut out for it.

Round 4: Donald Young vs. Andy Murray (4) 2-1 (suspended)
Round 4: Andy Roddick (21) vs. David Ferrer (5) 3-1 (suspended)
Round 4: Gilles Muller vs. Rafael Nadal (2) 3-0 (suspended)

NOW we're going into Tuesday ;)
