Bittersweet feeling for me. Mostly bitter at the moment. Federer had the match on his racquet and faltered. A textbook choke in anyone's language. Both players played well and fought back well at different stages of the match, but Djokovic played unstoppable tennis after the door was opened for him late in the 5th. Deserving winner.
The real positive is that we won't have another chapter in the most predictable and overrated rivalry in sports history on Tuesday morning. Djokovic should win and in doing so should cement his 2011 season as one of the best the game has seen.

Nadal has won 7 out of the 9 times they have played in slams. Nadal defeats him with the exact same tactic every single time. Is that not predictable to you?

Agree with Tiro. It's a mental thing; Nadal has the edge over Federer. Their rivalry in reality lasted for only two years- people make it out like it's still going.

So proud of Sam, to come through after Wimbledon with these sorts of results is truly a remarkable achievement. Granted the draws have been favourable but you still have to beat who ever comes up and she handled some tough situations well. Proven today after that second set, it was hard to see a way Sam would get through but she steadied and stuck with her aggressive game plan, a few errors from Kerber and was able to get the win (despite a little bit of a scare there).
Don't get me wrong, Serena is winning this tournament tomorrow, there is no way she is going to lose to Sam in a match like this, her tennis is too good and a horrible matchup for her anyways. But tomorrow will be a proud day to be an Australian, a day for someone who I and most other people thought she wouldn't get a chance again gets another shot. She now can't just be remembered for that French Open final (although, she still will) as now she's a 2-time Slam finalist.
Nadal/Djokovic has potential to be an absolute classic, glad they are playing this on Monday so both players get some rest. Nadal has picked up his form and I gie him a slight shot but he's going to need to serve very well. Djoko in a 5 set classic is my hope and tip.

Been at work since 6 and only just got home! Shatterted i missed Sam's match and Novak Vs Federer. Can someone tell me what time the womens final will be in Melbourne?
On the US open website, it says 4.30pm NYC time- which is 6.30am Melbourne time

Novak v fed was an awesome performance. First two sets the fed was playing at an incredible level. Full credit to novak to come back and win it. His reaction to the crowd after the 40-15 match point was fantastic. It actually won him a few fans i thought. Roger's handshake at the net wasn't that genunie.
Eurosport hinted roger doesn't appreciate novak to much. Better get use to it me thinks.
