Re: 2011 Wimbledon

Playing like a top 10 player, at 18 yrs!
Er, no.

Dude needs some more weapons before we start talking like this. He's stronger than he was 12 months ago, but his biggest strength is still his fantastic tactical awareness. That's great but on its own it won't be enough to get him over the line against the top 10 or 15 when they're playing well.

Re: 2011 Wimbledon

Bartoli is my most hated sportsperson in the world.

The bouncing.

The air swings.

The service motion.

The double handed forehand.

The way she prepares to receive.

The incredibly ugly appearance.

I hate this woman, so very, very much. Save tennis Serena, please.

I sent her a Norwood jumper with your details :D

Its funny how everyone is different, everything you dislike about her, i like :)

Re: 2011 Wimbledon

This fanboy stuff is ruining this thread, can't you people be a bit more civilised?
How cool is it that Tomic didn't get broken once, and only faced about 1-2 break points at that. He seriously has nothing to lose against Novak, should be a great experience for him.

Pironkova owning V Williams is a joke, she's literally won about 5 matches this year.

Re: 2011 Wimbledon

Its sad that I actually half want Nadal to lose just so I can stop reading the fanboy crap in this thread.

yep. cant u leave the Fed v Nadal crap till after the tournament. U guys are ignoring the person who has lost once all year as well, when saying that Fed would win with no Nadal.

interesting top half of the draw for the women. If Cibulkova serve doesnt become a liability, then she could very easy test Sharapova. Lisicki and Bartoli should be close as well.

not such much the bottom. Kvitova and Azarenka should make it through. they should be far too good.

Hahahaha you're dreaming. If its Djokovic vs Federer or something we will get.
Nadal Fanboy said:
Pfft, crap by Federer, Nadal would be smashing him right now, this is a fluke etc.

It's like death and tax....

Re: 2011 Wimbledon

Nobody says anybody has to like Federer. I just don't see why people obsess over him and Nadal.

Particularly Nadal fans. The constant wankfests every time he hits a ball are bad enough, but the way they fixate on the rivalry before we're even at the QFs is sickening.

It happens with Djokovic too, to an extent. I just don't understand why some people can't just enjoy the tournament without every second post revolving around their love or hate for one player or another.

Only the 4th time both Williams sisters have been eliminated before the QFs.

Re: 2011 Wimbledon

federer's supreme arrogance turns a lot of people off.

boo for people not liking that shit.

And na-DULL isn't? lol

His poor gamesmanship, bravado crap he pulls whilst on court shits me to tears more than anything fed says/does on or off the court, this is coming from someone who isn’t exactly a fan of the fed express either.

Never got into his loopy heavy top spin ground strokes and general risk minimisation clay court game plan, it has bored me senseles since I first I saw him play back in the Oz open of 2004. To this date I'm baffled by tennis 'fans' who actually enjoy what he dishes up, whatever floats people's boats I guess.

True he's a fine physical endurance brute who methodically grinds his opponent down as the game wears on, kudos for the work ethic and effort he's put to achieve that. However I watch tennis for elegant shot-making and highly resent the defensive brutal long-rally slugfest nadull has turned tennis into. That shit should strictly be confined to clay court.

Go Murray! :D

Re: 2011 Wimbledon

Completely agree with randyzany. There's also the fact that the courts around the world seem specifically designed for him to succeed for some unknown reason. The grass at Wimbledon gets slower and slower every year? Why? It's not ****ing acceptable.

As for him possibly having to pull out due to injury, what a laugh. I can't believe people continuously fall for it. The guy is that good that he can beat Del Potro in 3.5 hours with an injury so bad that he can't even compete in his next match? How blind are you lot?

Do you remember his thigh injury/illness at AO 2011? His knee injury at AO 2010? His stomach injury at USO 2009? His knee injury at RG 2009? His 'general fatigue' at USO 2008? His knee injury at Wimbledon 2007? His foot injury at USO 2007? The guy almost routinely says he is struggling with something during a slam so that an excuse is already prepared if he loses. You can add foot injury at Wimbledon 2011 to the list if he doesn't go all the way.

Re: 2011 Wimbledon

He's not the one who uses those excuses. After the Ferrer match at AO this year he refused to acknowledge his injury played a part in the loss, despite from all (read most) onlookers it was clear that it did.
Imo his injuries have a lot to do with his punishing game style, so for longevity he may have to change it a bit.

Did he need to say anything about it? He made it blatantly obvious during the match. I would've preferred he attempt to hide it and then honestly mention it after during the press conference.

I haven't even listed all his injuries. There's even 'injuries' during the slams that he wins. Last year at Wimbledon he called a MTO for another knee problem during a match against Phillipp Petzschner. He was down 2 sets to 1, broke the game after the timeout, proceeded to blitz him off the court in sets 4 and 5 and then win Wimbledon with ease. Injured? Give me a break.

This. I just want to see good tennis don't care who wins half the time on the men's side anyway.

The women's is different its hard to get good tennis from them. You either get one of; Serena and venus annihalating their opponents /the supposed top players like Wozniacki choking or others who rock up and rely on their opponents losing cough cough tsevatana pironkova the lobster with the 2km per hour serve.
Yawn.. i think i may have an early one tonight. Only player im interested in seeing is Lisicki, maybe sharapova.

Obviously you pay little attention to Nadal at Wimbledon. You didn't see his aggression last night and the way from ball 1 that he went after it and tried to be the aggressor.

Last nights match had some of the finest rallies you'll wish to see, but I guess you didn't enjoy it because you either didn't watch, or did watch but didn't enjoy it because they were 'defensive brutal long-rally slugfest' that Nadal has turned tennis into.

People that slam Rafa for being defensive and boring have no idea. Sure he doesn't generally try and smack a winner from the first ball, instead he clinically moves his opponent round the court before finishing him off with a punishing winner. And how about some of those inside out forehands to the deuce court, out of this world.
