1. Old Carey
2. Old Melburnians
3. Old Xavs
4. De La
5. Collegians
6. Uni Blues
7. Old Haileybury
8. Old Scotch
9. St Bedes
10. Old Trinity

My justifications:

Not many easy games for the top 6 teams.

Old Carey - Have picked up a couple top liners and had a team already on a winning streak. Hard to beat at home. Pederson will be a show stopper!!
Old Melburnians - Have added about 8 senior players to a list that would otherwise struggle. Have rid of a bit of dead wood and all reports are that the coach is better than the last one. Good players will enjoy the Junction oval with plenty of space.
Old Xavs - Always thereabouts. Could finish 1-4 and still be a threat come money time. Have lost a couple according to VAFA clearances. Noonan leaving will hurt.
De La - Have threatened the last couple of years and have some ok depth but have lost a few to the VFL and other leagues as well some going travelling for the year. Can't write off but I think they would be scarred from missed opportunities in the last couple of seasons and are no longer a young side with plenty of upside. New coach will confuse them without an obvious structure. (See final fight scene in The 3 Amigos)
Collegians - Have lost some quality stalwarts along their spine and clubs have now worked out how to counter the Jorgensen 'kick behind the play' trick. Happy to have 'me-me' Sauntner on board until they met him.
Uni Blues - Likely to be the year they could no longer hold on to finals contention after Nicholson has gone and Patterson has finally retired. Gleeson may have to help out again.
Old Haileybury - Have some good guys on board from local leagues and Brett Voss is still the best player in the amateurs. Mid tier depending on how Voss holds up.
Old Scotch - Surely can't do the drop after so many years in A grade. Have rid of over rated Nayna and Passador is stable in his allocated job but now with another club. I wonder what recruiting mistake they will make this year??? Their in-fighting board meetings would be comical.
St Bedes - Small club who enjoyed a dream run over a five or six year period. Their core players are getting old now and past their best. Younger brigade are mediocre at best. Spiritual leader Big Juice has retired. Could be like Old Brighton from 2010.
Old Trinity - How much longer can their champion, Rambo, keep them up for? It will be a sad end to a wonderful career. Old Ts to re-group in B-grade in 2012.

PALEEEEASE....Are you deranged? I'm not sure I can even be bothered responding in detail on this one.

agree on top 2, agree on bottom 2.
3 through 8 is a raffle, although i don't understand any optimism for hailbrie, or the hype on carey.

Rah Rah, seems your the only one not on board with the Panthers. I think you will be surprised. The top 2 always strong. Can't wait for it to start

Xavs and DeLa clear 1,2
Massive blanket
OH and OT to struggle

Carey depth will be an issue IMO. Something Xavs and DeLa can cover with a dozen plus very good ressies and unders.

Seems to be a lot of OM hype. Would be good to see them challenge for finals again in A.

Tipping OH to win spoon even if Voss is as good as previous.

All over the Panthers - even though I seemed to be watching there under 19s...

96.5 INNER FM VAFA FOOTBALL returns in less then a month. Broadcasting 33 games, including all fixtures at sportscover arena plus a and b grade finals. stay tuned for more details. . .

1. de la salle
2. xavs
3. collegians
4. uni blues
5. st. bedes
6. old carey
7. old melbournians
8. old scotch
9. haileybury
10. trinity

Will not surprise at all if st bedes challenge for the top 4. Carey one of the better b grade sides ive seen, will win their fair share of games though lack of a grade depth will be a drawback

A lot of speculation from a lot of pundits. One thing that seems to be lost in all this is that the gap between A and B grade is huge and then the gap between the top 4 and the rest in A grade is huge. Old Carey to survive but they will not make the 4. OM's? Who knows? They can be worldbeaters one day muppets the next - Old Xavs to be there no doubt and Uni Blues too - query with DLS (coach no good) and loss of some good players and Collegians (have they lost too many). Trinity in real trouble. Scotch (with lots of internal issues - when will this stop?) not far behind. OH may hang on - just. STBMT just ok.

The speculation over St Bedes is a joke, will be top 4 again, will win nearly all of its home games, may even push for the double chance.
OM's will be bottom 4, OT's G.O.N.E along with OH, Scotch will again find some way to survive as they always do. Have too many good players who can win a game or two off their own boot. Should be a great year, looking forward to it.

Your info looks to be dated BS. Perhaps been out of A grade too long.

STBMT no chance to get the double chance.

Hey Brianspeaking, (or is it brian's peaking? if so, too much information mate, thats just weird). When you say SBMT will be "top4 again", do you recall last year? Only 3 games outside Top 4. Or like Marcellin do you just write it off and pretend it didn't happen. SBMT are just a side. Just a club. Apparently the Mentone boys rule the roost and the St bedes boys are tolerated. Nothing more. Still, thats better than they were treated at school. SBMT would be the Old Scotch of Bayside if it wasn't for Old Brighton. Old Hails to be the pride of Murrumbeena when they finish 8th with three wins, one game clear of OT and the Finger Biscuits. Scotchies for C Grade in 2013??

Word is Collegians may have some exciting news that may give rise to a number of reassessments of their chances this year.

Watch this space.

You're a pissa rah rah but give him some slack!

Brian is an old fella that gets lost on this big interweb dotcom thing and he often find himself in the A section thread when he should be in the B section thread where his beloved St Kevins currently play.

don't tell me, Sauntner has quit already and now the club is back on track and looking like happy campers again?

Any Practice matches this w/end?

Cant decide on who I am looking forward to watching most?

Pederson
Taylor
Sautner

three exciting prospects this yr - skill/class. stength/agression. goal kicking machine.

Feel sorry for the poor kid who has to stand up against Taylor in ruck contests... he was agressive at AFL level.

They are like that when they known they're on the way out - ala Richie Vandenburg

Oh Chazz.
Your mention of Richie van den burg in the same breath as BIG Simon Taylor is as offensive as me suggesting that Chazz Michael Michaels and Jimmy MacElroy are equals on ice in Blades of Glory.
Jimmy: I see you got fat!
Chazz: I see you still look like a 15 year old school girl, only not hot!

I heard that the competition heavyweights travelled out of Melbourne for hit-outs.
Old Xavs headed to Mansfield, and OM's travelled to Hobart. Seems like Tasmania is becoming a recruiting hotspot for OM's? Desperate to find out how Carey went yesterday. Did Peterson show up? I have heard that Sauntner berated two young team mates for poor disposal, and that the Albino coach had to leave at 3/4 time with 3rd degree sunburn.

Nothing wrong with that, its why you bring them in, to teach the young kids.

I'm sure they are in no doubt what is required now and will not lose any sleep.

Play on!

Caulfield 21.13.139 Carey 11.5.71 is what I heard.

C'mon Carl...

sorry, I forgot its Premier A footy.

after a game I saw on Saturday I can tell you the coach 'machine gunned' off 100 expletives and demands to his young players in terms of skills and positioning, and this guy was a struggling HBF from the 80/90's

PLay On! and more importantly Harden Up!
