no live coverage

please tell me they died out there

edit: just saw a replay, sad thing is, they think they are killing it out there

Can gangnam style hurry up and die already. That was painful to watch.

thankfully didnt see it live, but only to suffer its replay.

brett lee, slater were odds on to do it.

nicholas? he's descent into mediocrity is almost complete

but did hear the opening monologue of the coverage. slater chimes in with a nsw reference.
mute.

Must give them credit for something though: they're getting stuck into the arrogant Windies players who did nothing for 5 games and are now suddenly showing off....

"You play the smart arse, you pay the price!!"

The good news is, Nine, Go and Gem are now off limits until the Ashes.

Plus it was only T20, so I didn't mind switching over for Qi and a Simpsons repeat, and therefore missed what would seem to have been the most cringeworthy aspectsof the night. (Actually I think I changed channel at the first Corolla ad, and forgot to switch back.)

Went back to read this thread from the start throughout the day, first post is a bit awkward now...

I already want to kill Ian Healy.STFU about time wasting you Nine asslicker. You use to run down to the bowlers end after every ball to have a 3 minute chat with Warne.

Thank goodness we're saved from the dribbling crap of Tony Greig :thumbsu:

Sweet Jesus that was awful. You can just picture the production meeting that led to that train wreck:

Executive Producer: "It's a T20, it's big, it's rock and roll, we've got to appeal to the kids. What can we do?"
Slater: "I've got some ideas lads, I know what's going down in da hood. Peace. Out."

Need to go to the dentist and get some work done, will listen to the commentary from last night again and go in and get the work done with no anaesthetic as it will be less painful.

The idea of seven getting the cricket at first worried me, now it doesn't because quite simply they can't be any worse even if they got Bruce to do some of it.

seven have dome some over seas tours from memory old bruce didnt have any part of it, but old Dennis committee, drew morphette and sandy roberts had turns in commentating on it. drew was hopeless but dennis was great

Even if Johanna Griggs and Fitzy commentate the cricket, it would be worth it to shake the arrogance of Channel 9 up, they take the audience for granted and have done for years.

Seven would probably higher all the new guys and use some of their own making for combinations like Michael Slater, Ian Healy and Brian Taylor.

They're obsessed with in-jokes, shitty nicknames, and acting like they're best mates with half the players (and seem barely knowledgeable about the away team). And I have this suspicion they're told to 'blokify' their voices... And lack meaningful analysis of the game.

Part of me wonders if the behind the scenes crew are the same people from The Footy Shows (Slater and Brayshaw do host them...).

Seven's AFL commentators can be stupid but because the game is faster with less breaks between action it's less annoying and noticeable. With cricket it stands out like a needle piercing your ear.

One thing that has pissed me off by Channel 9 this year is the lack of respect toward opposition players. They are no less players, and in some cases better than the Australians and have very often been around the scene for years, but the commentators talk as if it's the first they've ever seen or heard of them. Even when they had earlier in the series, they don't need to present it in a way that shows that they have no idea what they're talking about. Rangana Herath, for example, made his Test debut in 1999 and was the leading wicket taker in 2012. Yet the way that dickheads like Slats or Healy talked about him (not just him, just an example) was totally disrespectful.
