To all of you hopeful that Nine will give up the cricket, don't be!
They've invested helluva lot of cash upgrading all the tech and all that, why give it away now?

Wish they would go back to bringing in a commentator from the touring team's country like they used to do back in the day.
Surely not. They would have topo much sense. If they were prepared to take those guys on, they would have some annoying twit like Brian Taylor doing the footy ... oh, f--- it.Even if say 7 grab it no doubt the younger nine guys like tubby slats and heals would be snapped up
However, by Monday afternoon, Nine was broadcasting spectacular overhead views of the players. In Adelaide, McNamara will introduce ''augmented reality'', which will take the commentators from the studio and insert them as a 3D figure in graphics or historical footage. Despite all this, the cricket on Nine is not yet shown in high-definition. ''We do shoot everything in HD and it's actually downgraded to go to air,'' Crawley says.
''We do not have the spectrum to show it as yet. The government won't let you. We don't understand exactly why that is … Our trucks are all HD. It's a political thing and the same for every other free-to-air sports broadcaster. But it's not forever. In the goodness of time, HD will be out there.''
I wonder if channel 9 has spoken to Andrew Symonds about commenting. He is great I reckon
Nine are blaming the Government for not showing Cricket in High Def. Right...

As far as I'm aware, the only government restriction comes from simulcasting. Whereby if ch9 want to show the cricket on gem in HD, they must also show it on the regular ch9. Due to the way simulcasting rights works, they have to show it with the same ads, so they lose some ad buy. As far as I'm aware, this is the only reason they don't show it in HD. I'm not 100% certain, however this is what I understand from various sources. It's a bit of a joke if true mind you, and definitely no ones fault by ch9.

At least we won't have to put up with Simon O'Donnell any longer, he's tweeted that there's no more involvement with 9 in any way after 25 years for him.
Really? Bad break or just mutual parting of ways?
I thought they were grooming him for the richie benaud spot
