I think after Albert and Prince last winter things are going to be pretty quiet this off season.

What's your gut feel on Hamilton?
Keep hearing the Brewers mentioned, which if it is the case I wonder why they didn't have more of a crack at Prince 12 months ago, most probably wouldn't have got him, but they just seem to give up straight away.

KNBR broadcasting the giants parade today (11 AM SF time- guessing that is about 4 AM Down Under for the East Coast folks.

Good article on the Phuture Phils site looking at the Rule V draft- they go through the roster of guys that can be picked and whether they should be added to the 40 man roster or not (which protects them from the Rule V. Teams still have a couple of weeks to set their 40 man

Market Street is packed for the parade- lots of noise so far. People standing on top of high rises looking down on the parade. This is what makes baseball such a great game.

Yankees donated a half a million to the recovery after Sandy. you can pop that on the great thing about baseball list.

After seven months of daily baseball the withdrawal symptoms are more intense. 162 games are not enough;)

Gee, some folks say it is far too much....but when are you going to play the games? Unless you spent part of the season strictly in the south, you would never get games in unless you had domed stadiums. Plus, extra wear and tear on the players....sigh....

Well, three months until pitchers and catchers- until then, winter league ball in the carribean and the summer league in Oz.....it will have to do.

Wow- Tigers declined options on Delmon Young and Jose Valverde/ Victor Martinez will DH for them next year, while they have a hot shot closer in the minors who pitched at A, AA, and AAA this past year. they think he will slide into the closer's role.

Nah was just joking. 162 games is way too much IMO. Personally I think they should cut it to 130-140 and just spread it out over the same period. Surely a couple of days rest here and there will help the players and ensure the best players are healthy all year round.

Yeah, but it won't help the owners' bank accounts.

Some sad news to pass on- Pascual Perez, who pitched for several teams in the 1980s, was murdered in a home invasion in the Dominican Republic. Perez got the nickname "Perimeter" because while in Atlanta, he missed a start because he kept circling the city on the loop road 285. Couldn't figure out how to get t0o Fulton County stadium. No GPS in those days!

Here is an article on Perez:

Surprising about Young, certainly. Not in the least bit surprising about Valverde.

Reports now saying the deal is off and Haren will become a free agent.

Red Sox have signed Ortiz for two years for 26m.

Houston officially become a member of the AL on Friday night with the release of new uniforms.

Like other teams to change their uniforms the last 2 years, very traditional look.
