2012 AFL draft rumors

After what happened with Murray Newman I doubt we'd take him but you never know.

All jokes aside, he is an extremely talented young man who will most likely clean up his act espescially if he leaves W.A. In the future a club like Tasmania would be perfect for guys like him. It would be stupid not to take him at 48, at the stage your digging through shit to find gold, even if he stuffs up, no one loses.

Rekon Carlton might take the punt the more I think about it.

Turning Garlett into an 'A grader' will be Mick's personal challange while he is at the Blues. He had a very close working and personal relationship with every indigenous player that came and left the Pies in his time and it's something that he prides himself on. I think if Mick has any say Carlton might go early.

Imagine Garlett and Yarran on opposite wings in top form!
That's not quite true. Chris Egan came and left, Richard Cole was traded to Essendon, Shannon Cox was out the door quick enough, Anthony Corrie was a VFL player, Leon Davis almost quit the club a few times, Wellingham had a few drinking problems. In saying that Malthouse may still get along with the players well on a personal level, but it doesn't mean he can turn them around or make them decent players. Simon Buckley and Kirk Ugle never made it either. Brad Dick would have been a good player without injuries. You'd say his biggest success from that lot was Leon Davis for 2 separate years.

Oh, I never meant that he was successful in turning them into superstars but it was always reported (and I think Mick himself said a few times) that working with those boys held a special place in Mick's coaching life.

It's not the be all and end all, just something I thought might get taken into account come draft day.

Does anyone have any idea who WC are liking for their picks?

Even the stuff from the likes of Quayle, who usually pops up around now with a bit of inside knowledge of who's firming up for each club, pretty much just says 'the Eagles would want a KPD and a mid, here's some from WA....'.

Saw some Hawthorn blokes speaking to whom I believe was Nathan Hrovat in Pascoe Vale this morning, after the two party's moved on, the two blokes in Hawthorn get up, came into the coffee shop in which I was sitting and ordered, now I might be just reading into something here, but if their body language was anything to go by, Nathan Hrovat will be a Hawk come Thursday.

That is if other clubs don't pounce first.

Would be surprised if Hrovat slipped to our pick from what I've read

He could, just because of his size. He isn't the paciest guy going around either, and endurance still needs a little work. I don't think any of those things are major concerns, but there is a definite possibility he could slip to 22 in my humble opinion.

What, slow, short and out of breath.....you already have a Puopolo on your list don't you?

Their pick is 29. If he ends up being available they could get themselves a real bargain.

Think Puops is pacier than Hrovs. I am not saying that Hrovs will be a bad player, but when you're short, you have to be exceptional to go really high in a draft. Clubs perceive risk in the short guys and their is only so many smaller guys you will play at one time.

Won't even get close. Lucky to get out of the teens

Doubt Hrovat will be there at 29. If he is, Hawks would definitely take him. Don't think they'll get the chance though.

Have heard a couple times we like Harry Marsh. But so does Fremantle and I expect them to pick him up.

Other than that, no idea.

Day Day.jpg

Must be before he developed the beer (UDL?) belly. Garlett has a spare tire or two, and that kid in the pic is lean as a greyhound.

Well this photo is from a month ago, I think he's looking pretty fit, whether he looks like a complete tool is another question entirely.

Brisbane, under the tutelage of Crazy Vossy and Jono "Leo Wanka" Brown, seem to have a dickheads welcome policy....so Garlett may be a big chance at 24.

Perhaps he could 'hit' the pubs with Heath, Have a night at the Cas with Eddie, enjoy a Christmas Yarra cruise with the entire playing group....................

Yes the more thought you put in the more obvious that Dayle & Carlton would be a ideal match.

The four I knew of were Collingwood, Hawthorn, St Kilda and Carlton.

But Quayle has said the pies have cooled, of all the clubs they are in the best position to pick him up.
The four you mentioned would or would not take him ?

How is Moloney going after his effort to be kicked out of Melbourne's leadership group and the Demons?

So much ignorance of our list and the type of players we draft.

Just what did Kennedy do at the draft camp that has him at 30? ....which we would take if it happened by the way:rolleyes:

Party boy with a poor training ethic seems to be what most are insinuating, only did a 12 in the beep test which for a AFL mid is very poor.

I'd spit it if the pies didn't get him at 18/19 or 21 and back our development programs to get him up to AFL standard in the work ethic department.
