2012 AFL draft rumors

He could, just because of his size. He isn't the paciest guy going around either, and endurance still needs a little work. I don't think any of those things are major concerns, but there is a definite possibility he could slip to 22 in my humble opinion.

He is a Mitchell clone so with Sam getting on by the time he retires Hovrat will be ready to take his role over, makes sense.

Mitchell. 179 cm. Hrovat 174 cm.

Someone should get those scientist to improve their cloning strategies, as they seem to be getting smaller in size . Not good for modern footballers ...........

Hovrat was measured at 175.9 so basically 176cm and could still be growing.

For an inside mid role 3 cm is **** all.

Well this photo is from a month ago, I think he's looking pretty fit, whether he looks like a complete tool is another question entirely.

We have come to expect these 18 year olds not to drink, smoke, or act like 18 year old men (as he is in that photo). A lot of these draftees sacrifice all that but put yourself in that position, and it would not be easy to give up that period of your life.

Rumours going around that Dayle Garlett could go undrafted. Something big must really be brewing behind the scenes.

Not a rumour, but in the HS today it has come out that Josh Simpson has a one year old that no one knew about. Apparently recruiters are keen to re-interview him.

Josh Simpson and Dayle Garlett are definitely the troubled boys of the draft.
You'd think non-WA clubs would be spooked off Simpson in this case.

I reckon the 1 year old does change things.

Firstly why didn't he inform clubs of it...I think its relevant information.

Secondly, although he says he is happy to move anywhere, surely somewhere along the line the 'go home for family reasons' motivation is going to arise.

Thirdly, if he doesn't care about seeing his children, then there has to be a concern about loyalty and heart.

As long as he can adequately convince selectors of his arrangements, then I don't think its going to be a huge issue, but I would have concerns as a recruiter....especially from GC who are located a long flight away from his home.

Did he know about it?

Party boy with a poor training ethic seems to be what most are insinuating, only did a 12 in the beep test which for a AFL mid is very poor.

I'd spit it if the pies didn't get him at 18/19 or 21 and back our development programs to get him up to AFL standard in the work ethic department.
Got a 13.8 in the beep test so don't know where your getting your mail from

Saw some Hawthorn blokes speaking to whom I believe was Nathan Hrovat in Pascoe Vale this morning, after the two party's moved on, the two blokes in Hawthorn get up, came into the coffee shop in which I was sitting and ordered, now I might be just reading into something here, but if their body language was anything to go by, Nathan Hrovat will be a Hawk come Thursday.

A pretty reliable poster over on our board says we have committed to Hrovat if he is there at any of our 3 picks inside 21, take it for what it's worth.

I don't think he will slide as far as 29.

Even if you guys didn't take him (although I imagine you will), the Saints would surely take him with 25 or 26. Can't see any way of him making it to 29.

Well actually I'm around that age bracket and I have done all three, don't get me wrong what he's doing in either of those photo's isn't too bad, my point is he is an absolute tool and my point in the second photo is that he is actually pretty lean. It's reward for effort as well, fair enough AFL players have to give up a lot but don't we reward them enough? From what I've heard, he's actually a bit of a loner, I don't think he's got that whole partyboy lifestyle that people seem to think.

Sure Yarran plus Walker, Garlett and Betts who all have young kids will make Simpson feel at home. :p
I think you mean he is a fight risk
Four years of no off field concerns versus Chris Masten getting locked up and Murray Newman getting into trouble after one year.

Fair enough. What makes you think he's a tool though? Genuine question, I don't know much about him other than that he drinks and smokes, and has some discipline issues.

Shannon Taylor is a one man father-son factory for whichever club takes him :D

Good point. Is Simpson's child a boy or girl, and does he show any signs of being an athlete (eg tall for his age/good hand-eye co-ordination/running around already). Knowing you will have a f/s selection 17 years after drafting Simpson might be seen as a bonus ;)

If Troy Taylor can get drafted I can't see why Gartlett wouldn't. Can't see him getting passed Collingwood.
