Seriously, how did we only get tier 2 compensation? Blows so hard. We would be set if we had another pick in the middle of the first round.

Considering the fact that Scully is yet to show anything other than potential while Ward is a proven finals performer already, you'd think that he'd get a better offer and get higher compensation.Seriously, how did we only get tier 2 compensation? You're underselling Davis there. He's a young KPD which looks the goods. Arguably worth more than Ward in terms of structure.
He's also had 2 shoulder reco's as well. Sadly potential outways reality in the AFL, as Ward has achieved far more than Davis and Scully in their respective short careers, and should recieve the compensatory equivalent of what the Demons got for Scully. You're underselling Davis there. So had Judd before he got drafted. He's also had 2 shoulder reco's as well.
Correct - which is why he went number 3 instead of number 1. Judd was drafted as an 18 year old, while Davis has been given a contract of over $500,000 per year based on 20 games and 3 injury interrupted seasons. A lot of money for a bloke who's shoulder could pop out at any time.So had Judd before he got drafted.
Assuming we finish around 13th-10th, any two of the following: (from knightmare writeups), followed by Hunter in the second round.
Vlastuin (big physical midfielder, but with class disposal and kicking)
Toumpas (electric, goal-kicking midget with class disposal and kicking)
Mason Shaw (198cm KPF marking machine, good kick, who lifts for big games)
In other words, midfielders who can use the ball under presure, and a forward who can be a long target and kick stright.
I think we need classy mids more than anything else, and would be happy to get three with our first three picks (that includes Hunter). Classy mids will give the young forwards we do have a decent chance.
However, if there is a deadset gun key forward who can take big grabs as a long target still available, will take that as well.
With round three picks onwards, we simply take best available regardless.

Get the paywall with that as well?
I had a funny thought the other day. Have the AFL inadvertently given us a higher draft pick. I mean if we don't play expansion teams twice surely that means we finish lower on the ladder when compared to sides who do.
Thanks AFL the Fixture this year will help us no end.

ADelaide plays them twice I think - does Melbourne?
yeah it does, we activated it before the season.Doesn't the requirement to activate compo picks prior to the start of the season encourage tanking?
It absolutely does. It's a ridiculous concept. Whats the incentive for the Dogs or Demons to fight out the last few rounds and try and rise from 14th to 9th? Lot of Dogs and Demon players with niggling injuries will be put on ice in the last 1/3 of the season. No point risking injury and actually winning games of footy when it's in your best interests not to.Doesn't the requirement to activate compo picks prior to the start of the season encourage tanking?
