Would be another option. Would prefer Toumpas over Kennedy though.
There would probably be better options available than Kennedy at our pick as well. I think he would be around pick 8-12.

I still think Panos can get a forward spot

Would love to see Panos given a go in the forward line at AFL level. He sure as hell isn't getting much of a
shot at Willy. He gets used to plug gaps all over the field, the poor kid must be wondering if he is Arthur or Matha.
For God's sake he is to short for a key position player, and today they had him in the ruck, playing against actual ruckmen 6-8"'s
taller than him. Just what on earth are they trying to do to him?
Lets just stick him in the forward pocket with the Dogs, tell him to simply lead out, and kick goals.
Leave him there for 5-6 weeks and just see what he has to offer.

We don't have to use our compo picks on F/S's, if I'm correct. When are the other clubs going to force us to pick them?

Melbourne and forget who else is also doing F&S. Hunter is 3rd on the list the other two will be forced first

Jack Viney for Dees, James Stewart for Collingwood, Joe Daniher for Essendon and James Stewart for Hawthorn. Yes, 2 James Stewart's :p Think that's it.

We can't use a compo pick on Hunter if we want him, and no one will bid for him before our first pick, so he will be at least a 2nd rounder, possibly 3rd rounder, and possibly no one bidding on him at all.

4th, Viney (Melb), Daniher (Ess) and Stewart (Coll) are all rated higher

This plays nicely in our favour. :thumbsu:

did you read that off Knightmare's thread? that whilst decent at providing content on some potential draftees, he has a penchant for overrating players Collingwood are going to get. Dude had Witts at something like top 10, Seedsman top 20 in the past and now Stewart top 10 in a superdraft

Heard him rated late first round up to 3rd round, dependent on how he goes in the champs, much like Hunter.

I agree totally, the kid works his arse off and does what ever the coach asks of him and does it well. The same can be said for Tom Hill, he also rucked and was in defense as well today.........

I like the sound of Vlastuin as 'complete' mid - big, strong, classy and skilled by hand and foot, but it doesnt say quick. (sounds something like a Martin/Murphy/Cotchin type of player). Even though we want more speed, do we take this guy if available, or do we double up on quicker, but less complete mids?

Particularly since we are also drafting Hunter.

Go for quick mids only we have enough insides

After looking At Chris25 and Knightmares drafts, this is what I think:

FWIW I cant see the dogs taking a tall in the first round - we have a lot of developing talls on the list in all positions. Of course most wont make it, but the point is, thats not where our immediate needs lie.

We desperately need to add zip and polish to our midfield/forward rotations. Quick guys who can kick, create play and kick goals.

Apart Dalhaus, we have nobody on the list coming through who can do this stuff.

Stringer, Toumpas, Menzel, Kennedy, Garlett, Mayes - whichever two of these guys are the best and safest picks.

Would love Stringer and Toumpas to fall to us somehow...

but we should pick up a forward at least in the second or early third

Excuse my ignorance, but since the AFL introduced this **#*@^# bidding system, has any team bidding on an opposition F/S prospect ever had them say: "ok you take him then", forcing the bidder to actually pay up? All I can recall seeing is clubs using [ abusing] the system to force the club with the F/S down the selection order with the balance of the picks their ladder position said they should get.
To my way of thinking this system is more of an abuse than tanking, as it is not going to be used by the weaker teams, just the stronger to improve their own draft prospects.

I think if one of these 'bidders' was made to use their first round pick on some kid they really didn't particularly want themselves, the this dud AFL idea might die out pretty quick.
If it is to be persisted with, why not say any bid on any F/S kid has to be the bidding team's first round pick only.
Here's hoping anyway. I love the whole concept of club/family tradition, and would love to see it encouraged rather than stymied by Head Office.

You know I disagree with you on this one, stefoid, but I'll give my side again :p

I think it would be beneficial to take a highly rated tall forward (or even tall back). They take a few years to get going, where a midfielder can come in and make an impact very early in their careers. You've got to give the big guys time though.
Say for example, the big guys we have atm don't come on, and it is clear that they wont improve. Then we have to go and find another tall to replace them, and then take another few years while they develop.
If we take one now, these few years where we wont be pushing for the top will be good development years for them, and then they'll be hitting their straps when we start to challenge.

I wouldn't be unhappy if we took 2 mids at all, I just think it's a good idea to go 1 tall and 1 mid.
If Stringer falls to our pick, definitely want him.
But anyway, a lot of junior footy to be played yet. If a couple of mids clearly show they've got it, I'd probably prefer to take 2.

Just one final thing too, you said only Dahlhaus has those capabilities. I reckon Tutt will become a permanent fixture in our 22. He's quick, great skills, and a thumping kick.

the big question is what do we do if Brodie Grundy falls to our pick, do we pass on him because our ruck stocks are decent or do we take him any way as he has the potential to turn into a 40hit out per game ruck that can also play as full forward.

NO no no no. no more rucks that can go forward

Pass on him I reckon. FWIW, I don't expect him too be there at our pick. Hoping Melbourne take him.
