Shaw has been relatively poor in the championships. So there's got to be some doubts.
For mine, I would go Menzel and Stringer. They fit the Jason McCartney mould of tall midfielders being able to play anywhere and potentially could be elite at any position.
Not sure if Menzels injury is a blessing or a curse because I would like to see more but the way he was going, he was zooming up the charts to GWS, GCS.

Really hoping that id Richmond de-list Jayden Post that we go for him. Good size and hands, local boy.
He in my opinion has shown more than Ayce already. He can play at both ends, but I would like to see him at CHB and given a good chance.
I reckon he would be a very good late pick or rookie selection......Of course that is if Richmond de-list him or want to trade him.

NOT SURE IF SERIOUS

Having a look at the way North, Port and Brisbane are going, and their draws, I think we can expect to finish in front of these guys for a nice mediocre spot on the ladder - picks 10 and 11 in the draft.

Wouldn't we have to finish 10th to get picks 10 & 11? That means we would need to finish ahead of two out of Carlton, Freo, Richmond and StKilda. Can't see it happening myself unless a couple of them give up and start tanking. Only one of those four has a history of rorting the system.

And one has a history of finishing ninth.

I didnt do the math, but we could finish ahead of Freo if they continue their downward spiral.

pardon the intrusion

Will be interesting between the two of us as I think we both require similar players. We both have a need for some balanced mid-fielders who have good run and can break lines and also a key forward. Could see a bit of foxing re picks given we will finish close on the ladder. Surprised there hasn't been more talk in this thread about trading one of your early picks for the first pick in the mini draft? Hogan is one that is being talked up a lot for that pick and there is a fair bit of interest on our board in him, given our lack of key forwards. When Brownie retires we will be in much worse shape than you guys are for tall prospects. We have some fringe options but none have really come on quite yet (although are improving). Sounds very similar. Big difference is we still have brown at the moment, so it doesn't look as dire on the surface. You have the advantage in that you have two picks to meet your needs early while we don't, so you should get the players you are after.

Guess it will come down to how you rate your up and coming talls. I don't see us going for Shaw to be honest, think where we will finish will be a touch high for him and we will go for the best outside/balanced mid we can get with a premium on disposal. Think you will be similar. Just too many good mid options this draft not to.

There i

There is no way Richmond will delist Jayden Post, he is a required player.

He is pretty likely to be delisted. He is a massive dud if I have ever seen one. He is far too slow and has such poor disposal to ever become AFL standard. Next year will be his 6th year on our list if he doesn't get culled this year. He was mature aged (by a year) when we drafted him and the odds are well and truly stacked against him with the like of Griffiths, Grimes, Rance looking much better players.

I honestly, for the absolute life of me, cannot see why a single one of our supporters think he might turn out ok. For some reason though some do.

Interesting

Interesting Tiger Fanatic, I know KB talks him up all the time, and of course talls, especially ruck/defender talls take a long time to develop.

I don't listen to KB much but it surprises me that he would talk him up. I follow Coburg closely and while he can be useful and bob up for the occasional good game in the seconds it's very evident to me that he won't make it.

He will be 24 next year, so he has been developing for some time. It takes him a long time to get the ball to boot. I feel like the game is in slow motion while he tries to pick an option and drop the ball onto his foot only to spray it out of bounds. He isn't frustrating in a "he has some talent to work with" kind if way, he is just a player who tries hard but isn't good enough. He doesn't defend well and is a poor spoiler, and if he goes forward it seems as though he has put soap on his hands and a his set of rubber **** on.

I'll be happy if he proves me wrong, but I certainly won't feel as though he will come back to bite us if we cut him.

Posted last week saying we should aim at getting a full forward (possibly Shaw or Hogan from that mini-draft) and a quick mid with the two picks.

After yesterday, and the other week against the Swans, we probably should look at adding two quick skilled midfielder's with the picks. Brisbane killed us with leg speed and I'm a little scared what Essendon could do to us with their quickness.

We're trying to turn Ayce Cordy into a Kurt Tippett type for us which would be great. Probably doesn't have the speed of Tippett though which makes me think he'll be better suited to play second ruck, third tall forward for us. I also think Roughead is going to be a ruck long-term which makes me want to get a FF with one of those picks.

Tough decisions for the recruiters to make, we've got a few holes to fix. Certainly wouldn't want their job but hopefully they'll make the right call.

Would you delist McGuane with Post?

WISH LIST:
Shaw - KPF with great hands just not sure about his "upside".
Mayes - Elite kick of the football.
Jaksch - An athletic KPP that can play either forward or back but could see him developing into a player that could fill Lakes position
Taylor - Elite speed and agility to develop into a player in the vein of Jetta
Hunter - Our F/S for this year that has a beautiful left foot that have bagged quite a few sausage rolls this year. Not rated quite as highly outside of this club so I reckon we will get him quite late.

However, I'd rather give up one of our first two picks for a shot at the mini draft to be able to draft Hogan... Tanner Smith (KPD), Nick Vlastuin (MID), Troy Menzal (FWD), Jonothon O’Rourke (MID) or Aidan Corr (KPD) if any of those guys slip down the draft order.

I reckon we are every chance of finishing 16th. Melbourne have a much better draw in the second half of the season, and are expected to get at least 2 more wins against (GC/GWS), plus they play PA in Darwin, Brisbane at the Gabba, and Freo in Melbourne. Any of which they could win.

If we do get picks 3 and 4, I hope we draft Stringer and Toumpas. Distinct possibility that both will be available and we should pull the trigger. If Melb finish below us, then Stringer will be gone I reckon...

Mayes and Vlastuin (in that order) would be my next selections if Stringer and Toumpas are gone. Mason Shaw after that...

Hogan would be a good get if we get say picks 7 and 8, but I wouldn't trade 3 or 4 for him...

As for our next pick (which would be pick 24 I think), I agree about Jaksch (although he'll probably be gone, as will Wines). O'Rourke maybe...

Just interested Josh, how many times have you seen these guys play?

I think
Might be a bit difficult to finish below Melbourne now that Mitch Clarke is gone for the season.

We'll have to cause an upset to get another win this year as well. You'd think we'd snag one but the odds will always be against us.

I think we will win 2 more but will be underdogs for all the remaining matches. The last game against Brisbane might be the most exciting since the Bryce Gibbs Cup

I looked at the ladder and felt that we would definitely win one more, maybe two.

Melbourne are improving and should snag another three wins, it would be great if they finish on top of us, and before I get jumped on, no I don't want the club to tank, but we need to get games and experience into our young crew and playing them is the only way we are going to do that. Remember 2002, 2003, 2004 and how things started to come together in 2005. We have one more year of pain, and then we will be on the up again, hopefully with a more balanced side this time.
