The two Rioli's from the Northern Territory side would light up our forward line
Only Ben is eligible this year, and they both weigh about 20kg dripping wet :p Long way to go before either of them can play regular footy. GWS have first dibs anyway.

Just watched VC vs SA (only 3 quarters because the 4th quarter on the AFL website actually shows the 2nd quarter again...)

Toumpas looks perfect for us, gun! Want want want!

Mayes would also be a good get, extremely fast, big long kick and also a good kick, reminds me of Tutt in a way.

Where abouts is Kennedy tipped to go, looks a gun but our pick might be a bit early for him. Wouldnt be unhappy to grab him though.

Stringer looks okay, I dont have much to base this on but he doesnt really look like he fits our needs. Looks more like a big bodied inside mid rather than a classy outside mid.

He's not going anywhere near his best output atm. In a couple of years, after a couple of pre-seasons he'll be going great.
He's a very good kick, can explode out of packs, and is able to go forward and take a mark and kick a goal. I'm confident his injury wont affect him once he gets a few pre-seasons into him.

Tutt is quite short. Mayes is almost a 3rd tall who plays mid/forward.

Yeah I know but just the way he plays reminds me of him a bit.

Yeah, he's obviously got talent and I would definitely not be disappointed if we take him. The way you describe him is great and what we need too.

Watching a few more games of the championship. My wishlist as of now is (in this order)

Toumpas - Just fits our needs exactly, can win his own ball, break lines, awesome kick, fast. Don't think he will be available though.

Garlett - Extremely quick and a great kick, not too sure on his inside game but we need a pure outside mid and he will compliment Wallis, Libba and Smith perfectly. His off-field dramas don't seem too bad at all.

Mayes - Fast, one of the best kicks in the draft, 187cm outside mid who can go forward and play well.

Stringer - Extremely talented, before his broken leg was tipped to go number 1 by a lot of people, great kick, strong and fairly fast. Can also go forward.

Kennedy - Tiny, 174cm I think but decently built, is really quick and has a great kick which is actually pretty long for a player his size. Can also play forward and could probably be a great little rover as early as next year.

Would love Whitfield but he will surely go number one!

Also I've got a question, if Grundy slips to us do we take him? We have enough rucks surely but he looks a gem.

What about Oliver Wines? He would be perfect for us.

As doggies ftw said, Wines is much more inside. He's still a nice kick, but he doesn't have a heap of pace.
He's my 2nd favourite player in the draft after Stringer, so I'd love him to be on our side, but he's not what we need.

.

Please dont even go there ! Thats been our mistake for the last 10 years - The Midget Brigade !

Building an awesome Spine should be the main focus because going about it the other way has gotten us nowhere in big finals games in the past !

What to do about Jake Stringer, is he worth the gamble? Touted to be top 2 in the draft before he broke his leg last year. Anyone know how bad the break was - did it break the skin? Any information would be appreciated.

High risk high reward I guess. I think because we have 2 picks we can afford to take the risk though.

Can we? We are staking our future for the next 5+ years on our 5 picks inside the top 50 this year, with 2 of those inside the top 8.

There will be the mother of all meltdowns if we pick up a collection like Walsh, Power, McMahon, Wells and McCormack with those 5. You'll find me face down in Lake Burley Griffin.

Yep, also one of the reasons I dont want us to recruit players with homesickness issues with our early picks like Garlett, Rioli's etc. Whilst we did well with Cooney my faith has wavered after Schofield, Harbrow, Thorne leaving for homesickness reasons.

Havent seen that much of him but he's more of an inside type, which I think we are set in that department. For us I would focus solely on speed and skill.

I think he has a lot of speed but you won't know how fast he is until the combine anyway. Wines is a top 10 pick easily. If we are going to get Toumpas then there's no reason why we shouldn't consider Wines among the other players who are likely to go in the top 10. Just because he has an inside game doesn't mean he should be disregarded.

For what it's worth and what I have seen of Wines, I think you're underestimating his pace.

Garlett has said himself though that he wants to leave WA, and although I agree to an extent the best talent (which is going to be available to us anyway) is all from interstate other than Stringer.

Yeah I get where you're coming from but I think with the state our list is in at the moment we need specialist outside players.

If Wines has pace and is a good kick I don't see why we wouldn't think about it. Though I think we have our inside mids sorted with Smith, Libba, Wallis. It is always good to have someone who can play well both inside/out.

There is the risk, but if it's pulled off the reward would be massive. He could easily end up the best player from this draft.
It was a bad leg break. Happened at the start of last year. Broke both bones.

It will be interesting to see how he goes at the combine. With a few more months he should get a bit more fitness back, and his pace could come back a bit. It's plain to see he's not completely fit at the moment.

I hope we take the risk. He's very driven to play footy, and i'm confident he'll do so, and do very well.
