Chakvetadze just retired in her QF in Hobart. Cirstea did a massive choke thats her season over. Barty will get overpowered and they guy Ebden is player has never won a tour level match on hardcourt.....

Well I'm a Stosur fan but last year first round Wimbledon she lost to Melinda Czink at the time ranked 262. I expect her to win still but who knows.

Dokic is inconsistent ,but has a good chance.
Harsh on Ebden his 2011 and early 2012 form has been good. He tested Baghdatis.
Unless you mean the guy he's playing?

Barty is 15 and she won the Australian Open Wildcard playoff . Her opponent hasn't done much. It's not like she's playing anyone established.

I'm just saying she's not without a chance.

Harrison Murray should be a decent matchup.

Couldn't be happier with tomic's draw tbh, I would actually slight favor Tomic against verdasco with the way he is playing. Happy with Hewitt (one win and then we can have some fun with roddick). Ebden should win as well as long he doesn't get nervous, this is the top 100 Matty, these are matches you should win. The wildcards didn't get much luck in the mend otherwise.

For the women's, just hope like he'll cirstea doesn't show up

AustralianOpen Australian Open
#Newsflash - Bottom half of men's draw, top half women's draw will be played at #AusOpen on Monday. Schedule out after 5pm AEDST tomorrow

Would expect RLA to look something like;

Clijsters/Q
Nadal/Q
Fed/Q

Wozniacki/Rodionova
Verdasco/Tomic

That is a pretty decent line up right there! I have a ground pass Monday. I really wanna see Isner Vs Mitchell and Jones Vs Dolgopolov. Surley they will be on MCA?

Has one of the biggest serves on tour

Lol, just no. It can be sneaky quick sometimes but overall he's known as having a pretty bad serve overall serving a lot of double faults and not getting the most out of it.

Ok, time to analyse this draw fully now I am home, first the Aussies:

Tomic vs. Verdasco - What I meant by being so happy with tomic's draw, is that it has the right mix of bignames that he has to play but they are also beatable, although even if he beats Verdasco his draw doesn't open up completely. I really think he'll give Verdasco a lot of trouble, as long as he can keep relative control of the point with his slices and not let Verdasco dictate then he has every shot at winning this. Should be night match on Monday, going to be a lot of fun, might buy a ticket if they are still available. If he wins that then Querrey in the 2nd who hasn't been much since he came abck. And then you are left with Dolgopolov in the 3rd, who know with that one, would be a strange match to watch. Would give the edge to Dog obivously. Fed in the 4th if he makes it that far but I shouldn't mention that.

Ebden vs. Souza - My biggest hope with this draw was that Ebden would be able to get a round win so he can keep his top 100 spot for longer. Well, let's say if he doesn't win this he doesn't belong in the top 100 because this guy is a claycourter and nothing more. Will make him play a few balls but Ebden should be more than up for the task. He shouldn't be nervous, the tennis he played this summer has been great, an improvement actually and it's only been about 5-10 minutes of lost concentration that have cost him against quality opponents in Stepanek and Baggy. Souza should be no porblem. Nishikori likely in the 2nd, very doable but Nishikori has improved remarkly in 2011 and essentially is a better version of Ebden. 2nd round would be fine here.

Hewitt vs. Stebe - This just makes me even happier, that 2nd round possible matchup would be just awesome to see. Given that he'll playing tuesday, that match would be on Thursday, I think I'll be calling in sick to work.... I should be writing off Stebe, he's a good up and comer who has had some results so I fully expect to take a set but Lleyton will be deseparte to win one mor eon home soil and will get through in 4. Unsure about Roddick's form and these always have fun matches but to see these guys play one mroe classic grand slam match would almost make the tournament for me there. (And I have a ticket to the final this year).

Matosevic vs. Monfils - I don't rate Matoesvic (had a good week in doubles in Sydney though) and Monfils just has way too much game for Marinko to compete. The only question is what show court do you put this on, might be a night MCA match so therefore I'll see you in a couple of days losing Marinko.

Duckworth vs. Qualifier - Obivously don't know who could this be. Would be hilarious if Carsten Ball (first time he won a singles match in 70 years I believe) wins tomorrow and gets this spot. That would be a blockbuster. I was impressed with his play in Brisbane though Duckworth, potential top 100 is there but still has a loooooooooooooong way to go.

Jones vs. Dolgopolov - Yeah, no chance. Jones has been forgotten about this summer really and was given the last WC just because there was no one else. Take the check and run.

Isner vs. Mitchell - John had a questionable loss in Sydney against Reynolds, doesn't matter because Mitchell will be too nervous in his first grand slam match.

As far as the overall draw goes, Djokovic is always the favourite doesn't matter who his draw. Just happy Federer and Djokovic are in opposite halfs. If he is in 2011 form nobody can really beat Djoko anyway. Ferrer is his potential QF.

Only Luczak of the Aussie men made it through the first qualifying round.

I take that back...Carsten Ball's into the last round.

Anyone give Harrison a chance of beating Murray?

No chance, Harrison has been a little disappointing the last 6 months.

That is a pretty decent line up right there! I have a ground pass Monday. I really wanna see Isner Vs Mitchell and Jones Vs Dolgopolov. Surley they will be on MCA?

I would expect one on MCA and another on SC2 or SC3. I will be there too.

I always like to have a bit of fun and try and predict the OOP for the show courts. Here’s my calculated guesses:

Code:
[B]Rod Laver Arena:[/B]

1. Clijsters vs Qualifier
2. Federer vs Qualifier
3. Nadal vs Qualifier

1. Wozniacki vs Rodionova
2. Verdasco vs Tomic

[B]Hisense Arena:[/B]

1. Azarenka vs Watson
2. Berdych vs Ramos
3. Li vs Pervak
4. Del Potro vs Mannarino

[B]Margaret Court Arena:[/B]

1. Dolgopolov vs Jones
2. Dellacqua vs Jovanovski
3. Isner vs Mitchell
4. Radwanska vs Mattek-Sands

1. Fish vs Muller

[B]Show Court 2:[/B]

1. Hantuchova vs Qualifier
2. Wawrinka vs Paire
3. Almagro vs Kubot
4. Jankovic vs Qualifier

[B]Show Court 3:[/B]

1. Melzer vs Karlovic
2. Schiavone vs Pous-Tio
3. Nalbandian vs Nieminen
4. Pennetta vs Qualifier

Thoughts?? What looks right/wrong? We'll see how I go.

They generally do not put two mens matches on RLA during the day, but they have no choice here. The Dellacqua vs Jovanovski doesn't look right on MCA, but it is the Aussie court. I think it's Radwanska vs Jankovic vs Schiavone for that last women's singles match on MCA.

The night match on MCA is always a fun one to predict. I thinnk that's the best value for money match-up, although maybe Delpo could claim it.

Having those two men's matches does risk a late finish, but it shouldn't matter in the first round. Nice warm-up for Fed and Rafa ...

I too give Tomic a very good chance against Verdasco, who hasn't looked 100%.

I reckon you got most right. But i think they should put Melzer Vs Karlovic on MCA night match. I reckon it will be a long one.

Hey guys, I'm thinking of going to a Tennis match for the first time to see Tomic in the night session (I'm guessing it will be a night match).

Is it still possible to get some good seats? Ticketek are offering me section 49, is that a good section? Is it too hard to see up there?

Yeah, that's a good place behind the court, Most of the lower seats are open to the public anyway, you will be fine from there. Most seats around RLA have a decent enough view, Hisense has worse views from up top.

Cheers.

Just tried again and it offered me section 8 which is first row but in the middle.

I assume it would be shit viewing on the side of the court?

Not sure if I should get a day or night session :/

Day session I'll get to see Federer and Nadal or night session to watch Tomic vs Verdasco (will be a better atmosphere than Fed/Nadal games since its an Aussie I guess)

Don't care about the womans games though.

Night session always has a good amosphere IMO. :thumbsu:

The Federer and Nadal games may be completed quickly, whereas the night game for the mens would be closer I'd presume. Depends what you would prefer.

Nadal on Hisense what the freaking heck??????????

Good for me 'cause I got Hisense, but seriously???

Last match of the day, average crowd at the best of times on Hisense, for the world #2 and former champion?

I will be at MCA most the day. Might sneak over to Show court 3 to catch a bit of Isner Vs Mitchell. So mad i will miss Tomic. Im gussing he would have requested a day match.

Nadal first round matches are boring as hell anyway. It was a decision between Federer and Nadal to be put on Hisense, easy choice.

I can't work out how Tomic/Verdasco is not on the night session, that confuses the crap out of me. Easily will be the match that would get the most viewers at night for Seven and Federer would be on the day (prime time for ESPN in the US) so everybody would of been happy. Can't figure that one out and don't get me the whole "past my bedtime" crap, he's a "drawcard" now, deal with it.

Going to be good weather too so there will be a massive crowd, MCA is always hard to get a seat, having Barty and Mitchell one on SC2 and other on SC3 should allow for a good seat at both.

Night match will be fun on MCA, providing the Sydney final actually gets started
