Milos Raonic up next. :thumbsu:

Raonic has a strong chance of winning that one for sure.

Watched the Raonic game yesterday, pretty impressed should hopefully knock Hewitt out

I was at Raonic first round match, and watched him training a little bit... He was reasonably impressive in the first round, but his opponent was terrible. Could not hit a passing shot to save his life. Hewitt has a chance but he's going to have to play well, hit a shit load of passing shots / lobs and somehow return that monster serve! He did well against Roddick, but he won't be familiar with Raonic serve. I'd say around 30/70 in Raonic favour.

I went to the Raonic and Petzschner game yesterday as well.

Raonic got the break in the first game and that was the first set basically. He was serving 220km/h bombs that were untouchable. He definitely tired on serve as the match went on, even though the third set looked pretty comfortable on paper. The problem for Lleyton is the longer the match goes, the less chance he has of winning due to his broken down body. That said he is a gun returner and I don't think he will try to run around on to his forehand on the Raonic first serve like Petzschner did LOL.

I don't understand all the Hewitt haters. Unfortunately I think him and Tomic are gone next round. My money's on it :(

+1

You can see it's a struggle out there for Hewitt these days but he's a battler. People should appreciate what he's done for Australian tennis.

i just wish he'd **** off! :)

Did anyone see Azarenka v Barthel, apparently Azarenka went a bit nuts, and got booed by the crowd. I don't really like or dislike her, but I think people are being a bit disrespectful.

Barthel hit a winner which was called in, Azarenka got angered since she had no more challenges remaining from what I understand. From the replay of the Barthel winner it most definitely appeared out, to me at least. She doesn't use her challenges very wisely. That said, and despite the mini breakdown, she won in straights and still hasn't been broken in 3 rounds.

Barthel is quite a talented young player, except her to rise further up the rankings as the year rolls on.

Its interesting that with the creation of the rackets that give so much top spin that it is impossible to be a serve volleyer in Tennis

It is similar to cricket with the creation of the powerful bats, it is impossible for bowlers to take caught and bowled chances

Isner vs Feliciano Lopez, is going to be ANOTHER long match

What doesnt make any sense is how Isner is a tall bloke, he hits a mighty serve, which means his points will be short with the amount of unreturnables. but his matches go on forever

Karlovic has 1 groundstroke

a serve

Hes 12 ft 10 and hes going to stampede all over me

Keyboard warriors are excited at the prospect of watching Federer unable to return each and every ball he faces today

All he has to do is put together 4 consecutive points on Karlovic's serve somewhere and he can sneak away with it

Karlovic is the most boring tennis player on the circuit

At least John Isner (the other giant) has brains and groundstrokes to give his matches a bit of variety (which is needed because his matches tend to go for 17 hours), but with Karlovic he just serves it and thats it

Just because he played one long match at Wimbledon and ok one long match at AO 10-8 in the fifth it doesnt mean all his matches are long one's. Get over it every post you do is about how long Isner's match will be.

According to AO Radio Karlovic does not conduct many interviews as a player because he has a stutter when he talks and he does not enjoy the way he comes across on his interviews

Poor guy

Interviews are stupid anyway.

"It's going to be a tough game but I just have to go out there and play my game"

Standard answer

Tennis is participated by players from multilingual nations y'know?

Interview Q to Novak Djokovic of Serbia: what do you think about Rafael Nadal?

English Answer: he and I have been buddies since we started playing tennis at the academy, Now here's my humourous impersonation of him

*Anglophile crowd laughs*

Serbian Answer (translated to English): Hes a ****, here's me mocking the ****

I want to know why we get geoblocked from watching post match pressers when channel 7 don't even show them and fox sports only run a condensed loop for a few hours.

The ATP/WTA/ITF are really funny about pressers. You can't even access transcripts unless you hold a press pass. Players/fans are completely at the mercy of what excerpts journalists choose to quote and tv stations choose to broadcast.

I read a whole article about the inaccessibility of press conference info to the general public on a tennis journalist's blog a few months ago. Was pretty interesting. Can't find it now though.
