Found this stat somewhere

in 2001, a 19yo Roger Federer beat a 29yo Pete Sampras in the round of 16 at Wimbledon. 10 years later, a 19yo Bernard Tomic faces a 29yo Federer in the round of 16.

In straight sets btw....

EDIT: Ouch that hurt for the poor girl

If anyone goes on the tenniswarehouse forums (America) Tomic is copping a reaming. Let's just say the incident in the 5th set didn't paint a pretty picture for him and he's copping a pasting left right and centre on there. Can't really defend him though, while I don't think it was necessarily 'cheating' as a lot of people on there are saying, I do think it was bad sportsmanship.

Stupid to criticise a 19yo for a decision in the heat of the moment on a crucial point in a huge match, and that was primarily the umpire's fault anyway.

Sure the sporting thing would've been to own up, but it's not something to crucify an inexperienced kid over. If it becomes a habit for him, then I'll start getting upset.

I feel sorry for Medina Garrigues and all. But really she doesnt have to cry about it.
Before you critically comment about a player's character on court, you better know your subject well, didak. The bad run of injuries Medina Garrigues has had, which included a very bad knee injury in Australia, has left its mark on her. She has fought back from them and is a formidable singles and doubles player, representing her country in Fed Cup.

If I had that history and rolled an ankle, I would have reacted in the same way. And most of you wouldn't have understood what she screamed out whilst sitting on the court, but I can assure you that her anger and frustration about being injured was clearly communicated in no uncertain terms.

If your read my last post i said i feel sorry for as she has had her fair share of injuries. When she was getting her ankle taped she was laughing. And she came back out and was running on it. And was she was walking off she didnt have to much of a limp so i dont think it is carrer threatning. If it was her knee i would completly understand though.

Just went and had a look and I would hardly call a few people getting on their high horse a reaming.

Just as many are saying it was no different to some of Federer's antics against Nadal in the French Open.
