Gee Kim and Li Na are meeting early!
Del Potro is doing his work quietly, could be someone to watch as the top 3 will all be scared by what he can do.

Mahut is having the worst birthday any professional tennis player could have.

As for tomorrow, surprisingly enough, I'm finding the Jankovic and Wozniacki match up much more potentially entertaining than the Federer/Tomic match preceding it.

Did you go watch her [strike]perve on her[/strike]?

I did, madness putting her out there and not on Margaret Court or showcourt 2 or 3. Lots of people who couldn't get in to watch.

In terms of Channel 7's coverage I raise Basil zempilas talking about the upcoming [strike]football[/strike] AFL season with channel 7 being there for the 1977 Granville rail disaster

Why hasnt Gasquet not won a grandslam before? A fluid looking player like him with his game should have been able to secure at least 1 grand slam

The other players on the circuit probably saw him as Federer-lite

Other "Federer-lites"
Istomin

Gasquet is one of my favourite players, but he's an inconsistent clown. Also, aside from his amazing backhand he has very little that is top 10 quality about him. Struggles to maintain a rally from the back of the court against the sustained penetrating groundstrokes of top players and is useless when he comes to the net.

With that backhand he really should be a big threat on fast surfaces but has never really developed the complete game to do so.

Fortunately he is playing an even bigger clown in Tipseravic so hopefully he'll win here.

His problems are mental, I think.

^ There have been plenty of players with "Mental issues and pea hearts", before they rose above all that to win a major

Jana Novotna
Goran Ivanisevic
some guy called Novak Djokovic had a tendency to quit matches when he was trailing, rather than losing
Samantha Stosur

The onus is now on:
Monfils
Tomic
Stosur - still

People rip into womens tennis about depth, but the efforts put up by the opponents of Rafa, Fed and Djoko thus far have been truly awful. And there are about 8 women with a genuine shot at the title, half that number for the men.

Also, isn't it a bit unfair that Australian men are getting cooler night time session, no matter who the come up against? Oh and Channel 7 please show more of Murray live, if you get a chance...

In his head. Saw him last year on Margaret Court against Berdych and he played the most boring, defensive, lifeless tennis you could think of. Lost in straight sets and didnt look like he should be on tour let alone a top 20 player.

Why on earth is Tomic playing mixed doubles when he must be tired as ****?

He should be resting every second he has before playing Federer.

Implying he has any chance?

sigh.. Every player has a chance even if it's not a massive chance  Tomic is playing better then when he took a set off Federer in the davis cup last time, and Federer injured his back in Doha (seems fine now but still). No need to be so negative about it, haters gon hate.
