Rich's 20 goals means he's a goal a game midfielder. Valuable. Throw in the 97 x inside 50s and he's becoming the forward of centre midfielder that we'd hoped he could be. Only had 9 goal assists though - possibly due to the fact that, when in range, he has a ping rather than looking for a leading target.

As seen on the weekend when he it Brownie with that LUVERLY pass his range for goal assists are from the wing and middle of the ground, if there 1 to 2 more leading forwards you would see that number go up. Did like his last goal when he took the bloke on, took the shepherd and it went straight through the middle. Has the power and know adding that bit of finesse.

Our efficiency in scoring would only go up if we could improve our contested marking.

Would our contested making being so low be a side effect of our delivery or a lack of capable contested marks? What is the figure for our average cm differential?

would that be from Hudson not clunking many from our kick-ins? It is the stat that stands out like dog-balls.

Just another fun stat, Hudson had the most clearances of any ruckman in the AFL. By a pretty big margin too (10 or so on Roughead if he counts, 20+ on Minson and Giles).

Is it possible to post, time spent on ground, most to least?

I'll see what I can do.

I can tell you that, based on league wide average TOG%, the following Lions are high in the rankings:

4th - McKeever (97.9%)
21st - Patfull (94.4%)
31st - Brown (93.2%)
33rd - Golby (92.7%)
42nd - Merrett (92.4%)

I've been meaning to ask, what constitutes a Goal Assist and would an Inside 50 count as a GA if it led to a goal? For example, would Rich's "kick of the year" that led to an uncontested mark and goal to Brown be an I50 & GA? Or because Brown marked it and went back and had a shot it's "all Brown"?

Goal Assist

Awarded to a player who creates a goal by getting the ball to a teammate in a scoring position.

Try this Link TG - some of the descriptions are a bit basic but it does give you an idea.

"Rebound 50s - 2nd" Interesting we are second in rebounding from the defensive 50.

It is almost like Vossy sets the side up to ensure any clearence won by the opposition is under pressure so that the defence has a better chance of rebounding. The half back line appears to be really important in our set up as we launch attacks from that line.

This strategy (given my limited ability to analysis team structures) seems to be more important than winning centre clearences. For those that watch the game more closely do you think our staistical weakness in centre clearence could have something to do with a defensive mind set of midfielders?

The strategy of setting up to pick off poorly direct clearences from the opposition (if it is a strategy) appeared to work well against weaker teams, but when stronger teams dominated our mid-field we got slaughtered. Anyway I would be interested in comments.

After looking over those we might have a defender possibly take out the MM Medal!! Patful and Maguire would have to be up there but feel Redden will take it out!

He's been enormous for us this year. His tap work around the boundary is apparently one of the best in the league (one of the commentators mentioned it this week) where he can body up and use his strength against the other ruckman. I feel however that he's struggled at the centre bounces where other ruckmen can leap and then direct their taps at will. Hudson's normal stratagem here is obstruct the other ruckman's leap and then help win the clearance himself.

So while he has collected a fair few clearances himself, our mids at the centre bounces aren't often getting first use, as indicated by us being 13th for clearances and 16th for hitouts. So I think as a team we've been missing Leuey. This is not a massive criticism, and I really hope he goes around again for us next year.
