Injury 2012 Carlton Injury List Update #2 - Keep it all in here

It actually makes sense to me. That ball that went just above his head was a gimme of a mark. He just couldn't get to it, not even close. If he's having issues with the shoulder and neck then it explains why he couldn't do it. It also explains a lot of the motion issues that he's been having with disposal. I understand the legs and hand aren't part of the neck/shoulders area but if the body isn't aligned properly it limits the effectiveness of the disposal.

Judd's pain in the neck

NECK and shoulder troubles are believed to be the mysterious injury problems hampering Carlton captain Chris Judd.

It has since emerged that the dual Brownlow medalist has been undergoing physiotherapy on his neck and shoulders over the past two weeks.

It is understood Judd has been receiving treatment from a specialist outside Carlton's medical staff.

Would be good to get Mitchel in for a spell even if to see how he goes. What I've seen of him at PP he goes fairly well, was travelling better than Watson in my view, plays footy first basketball second.

Our performance against the Weagles was sensational considering form, injuries, rest, location and opposition. Any returns from now on, Waite, Laidler etc is just increasing the ammo.

We are a real show against the hawks - very excited.

Would love to see Mitchell in, but after watching him play last week, he is not fit enough yet. As much as we need a target we need one who can run out a match at AFL intensity and assist in putting pressure on. His timing at marks and body work is a little out, there is no doubt he can play from what I saw, but he is just miss timing contests and would be easy to defend against right now.

I am as hopeful as all that we get to see him in the next 6 weeks or so, it is clear he has great leadership and and alpha male like presence, something our list lacks at the moment. He needs some time, we all know he has not played much footy, but he is not that far away in the bigger picture.

re judd... getting treatment outside the cfc medical staff.
??? trust issues or just seeing someone who specialises in the area

Would assume the latter. .. Our medical staff would be more immediate injury/diagnosis and recovery. .. Like most issues, ie. knees, etc, you go to a specialist for specific treatment. ..

Greg Denham claims it's not the neck and shoulders. Think Denham is the journalist of choice that we leak to. :p

Injury's not what is ailing Judd
However, the decorated midfielder whose form has been down has told friends this weekend's bye will "do him the world of good" before he leads Carlton to its biggest two challenges of the season, against Hawthorn next Friday night at the MCG and a week later at the same venue against Collingwood.

A source close to the Carlton star yesterday told The Australian Judd had a sore back, but it was not a problem considered game-threatening.

"He's all right, it's a niggle rather than an injury," the source said.

"It's something he's had for two weeks and he's certainly not making any excuses."

Good post. :thumbsu: After missing a long time due to injuries he will definately need time to catch up with fitness, which will in turn improve his timing.

He has been back a fair time - have seen him three times, will watch him again tomorrow. God I love prinny park.

Anyway, I think like Watson, he is being underrated due to his surroundings, not disputing your assessment - no one looks good in our VFL team (Brock Aside). Tomorrow he will have Yarran, Boots, and others delivering it lace out, stitch up and polished, so for mine I'll call it after that game - if he plays a ripper, then I think he might be worth a thought. There was talk of him starting the home and away - so they definitely thought he was ready.

Have just read on Twitter that Laidler's left the ground. Hope it's not his knee.

He is basing that entire article on the following two lines:

"He's all right, it's a niggle rather than an injury," the source said.
"It's something he's had for two weeks and he's certainly not making any excuses."
That is rediculous. .. If it was more than a niggle then he wouldn't be playing, doesn't mean that its not hindering him. ..

Terrible terrible terrible news !!!!

Left knee apparently, not sure if same injury or another one. This is turning into the season from hell.

Bad news. @Laids_15 has gone down with another knee injury during today's @NBluesFC match at Visy Park.

Jeremy will undergo scans in the coming days to determine the full extent of the injury. #IAMCARLTON

Injury blow for Laids

CARLTON defender Jeremy Laidler is understood to have dislocated his left knee playing for the Northern Blues against Geelong in the VFL at Visy Park on Saturday.
It is the same knee that he dislocated in a NAB Cup match earlier this season and the one he required surgery for after damaging it during the opening minutes against Essendon in round four.

Laidler was taken down to the rooms and assessed by club medicos after falling awkwardly deep in his own defensive 50 in the second quarter of the match.
Northern Blues football manager Garry O’Sullivan told AFL.com.au it was “an aggravation of a previous knee injury".
