Re: 2012 Coach Panel

Yeah, Neeld and Watters left for senior coaching gigs - just to spite Bucks. Hated him so much they were willing to become senior coaches.

Your adding your own tidbits again Spice.

I said they left, i didn't put a reason down. It is pretty damn clear why they left they got promoted and such i didn't feel the need to add it.

Of course you wont have a go at Dave for implying that buckley moved them on though, I don't know how many times i have to say i am not unhappy buckley is coach i am unhappy we let Malthouse go by not offering him a match day role, yet we could offer one to Eade which in this case is very very much beside the point.

By all accounts Eade is a better match day coach.

And having the ex senior coach in the box would of seriouslly clashed with buckley and caused chaos

The last part is speculation we don't know that, having an Ex senior coach in Eade could very well do the same thing in any case.

Malthouse has coached flags, Eade has coached one grand final. I know which record stands up better.

Again though this is going off track and not what i meant in my original post, of course had to have someone read between the lines take their own meaning, call me out on their own and incorrect interpretation

Malthouse had superiorly skilled players to work with?

And Eade is comming from another team after being fired theres no way he'd be attempting to over rule the new senior coach.

Mick however has been the collingwood head coach for many many years and when put in the box no doubt will go into the same mode and could try and force moves that are contrary to bucks as he thinks he knows what is best.

Dave didn't imply anything, just made a fairly mundane statement of fact. Yours sounded very jibey.

Glad to hear your kosher with Bucks. Onwards and upwards.

When have i ever stated different!?!

Hopefully my posts now get taken at face value, not with some deep anti establishment meaning.

Anti-establishment and Optimax are two terms I would never associate.

Re: 2012 Coach Panel

"The list is 80% of a premiership" Leigh Matthews

Yet I feel strangely comforted knowing Eade will be in the box, the players will be following Bucks, Butters will be managing them and Harvey will be guiding them.

Re: 2012 Coach Panel

No, not the coaches box role Eade has

Could have had it if he didn't resign. (In theory)

Originally ... when we had Neeld and Watters, it was like "we have all bases covered".

Then these two go off and get senior coaching roles elsewhere (strangely enough with Mick praising them to the hilt), and to balance the coaching team, we then needed someone with a bit more experience. Malthouse had already said "no" so therefore it was the next best option: Eade.

I reckon if Mick hadn't resigned when he did, but left the option open for a few more weeks, he could have been retained (plus had input into the Hart appointment). Just an unfortunate series of events.

Thanks Mick for a great effort setting up a great team of systems internally for the club, and promoting a family atmosphere within the club. Now, onto the Buckley era.

Re: 2012 Coach Panel

I'm with Optimax here. There is absolutely nothing wrong with his post and there is no hidden message in it, he was merely correcting Dave, who implied that Buckley got rid of all the other coaches by saying Lappin and Lockyer were the only one's he kept. Optimax just stated that it was infact the coaches that decided to leave themselves, which is 100% correct.

Spice i don't see why you having a snipe at Opti for writing fact, while Dave was the one who's post can be misunderstood as Buckley giving his assistants the boot, which is incorrect.

On the topic of Eade, disappointed with his appointment, i think he's a poor matchday coach, cant say much for he's people skills though as i havent seen him in work, however i wasnt a fan of how he handled the akermanis situation. Would have much preferred one of Dean Laidley, Mark Harvey or Paul Roos

Re: 2012 Coach Panel

It's interesting that Rocca is going to be the defensive development coach. I wonder where that leaves Hudghton. Will we have three coaches for the defense > Hart (assistant coach presumably responsible for defense), Hudghton (defensive coach - thats his current job title), Rocca (defensive development coach). Does each line have three coaches?

MM was always very much encouraging his assistants to apply for senior positions, all the way back to laidley. he knew that was their career ambition, and as any GOOD BOSS would, provided any reasonable assistance to that person, thru words of advice & guidance, and strong, positive referrals, to assist his assistants in reaching their dreams of AFL coaching positions.

nothing strange about it.

How you can read that into Dave's post is truly bizzare.

Opti chose to make an obscure point about coaches not leaving, which I assumed was a veiled reference to coaches not wanting to stay, otherwise why even bother.

But I'm assured that he has no axe to grind, as he said.

Hudghton isn't even listed either. I wonder if the list is full time positions only? Otherwise does this mean Hudghton is no longer with us? I'd like to see a ruck coach there, and yeah, Rocca as defensive development coach is a little strange.

It struck me as a little strange that Rocca was defensive coach, but it probably shouldn't. He's not going to be playing there, just using his nut. It's really no different to Bucks coahching the forwards for example.

Rocca has played on some great defenders in his time, so he shud know a bit about defenders tactics/style to keep a forward quiet. He brings something to the table.
