Stiller>>>Rodan>>>>>>Byrnes

Stiller actually has the ability to contribute over 4 quarters.

Does anyone know anything about Pual Roos son Dylan and why we didn't, get him under the father and son rule. Is avilable in this draft but have heard nothing about him, which is strange does it mean because he's a acadamy boy for the swans that he's not avilable to us or has inside football made a mistake and he's not old enough yet.

Take it one step further

Inside footy have suggested 15 players as 1st rounders:[in no particular order]
Whitfield, Toumpas, O'Rouke, Wines, Mayes,
Membrey, Menzel, Stringer, Plowman, Daniher,
Simpson, Clurey, Jacksch, Macrae, Grundy.

An additional 9 players are suggested as possible 1st/2nd rounders:
Garlett, Garner, Graham, Kennedy,
Lonergan, McIntosh, Shaw, Vlastuin & Wright.

Excluding a what were they thinking Fiora type selection [or a Tippett nomination] then one could assume 2 of the above are likely Lions.

With pick 33 to come from one of McBean, Smith, Boston, Broomhead, Close, Lienert, O'Brien, Scott, Towers, Rodda and Corr.

So from what I've read, my preferred from expected available would be from a Vlastuin, Plowman, Graham or Lonergan, Shaw, McBean, Close, or Rodda.

Am I doing this right?

We were very difficult to predict on draft selectionss during the Hadley era. There were several occasions when we derogated from the consensus view.

Be interesting to see how it pans out now that Hadley is not the main man. At pick 8, it seems like there is a pretty defined field so I can't see us pulling a rabbit out of the hat there but I could see a roughy coming into the equation at 24 and/or 33.

Oh how I would love to see Kommer make it

Stirs up the opposition like no other, not to mention hes an absolute jet aswell

Tom Fields given permission to train with Essendon. He is a Labrador player who is a QB type at the back with elite speed. I think he might create a bit of interest in the rookie draft at least and good to see him getting a chance to impress early.
Not sold on Fields Quigs, I guess that's why he is a rookie prospect though.

Talking about roughies.... I hope the Lions are considering Boston at say pick 33. All Australian named in ths years national under 18 championships, did very well at the draft combine last month, is 180 cm and 76 kg at 18 years of age, and performed extremely well in the 7 odd senior games he played in the NEAFL for Broadbeach this season, ( would of played every game but his Stingray and QLD rep duties prevented this.) Honestly, this young kid is a gem,is a beautiful kick both long and short , highly skilled ,sleak and ozzes class. Lives and breathes the game.If he keeps on track he should become a good player in the bg league. Hope so, time will tell.

I want Menzel, Kennedy or Jaksch for the lols and the meltdown on this board after the draft. Even better would be a player like McBean but that won't happen so I can't get my hopes up for a meltdown of that proportion :(
Hahaha a Menzel, McBean & Boston would work for me!

McBean @ 24 - I feel he will be gone by then, thoughts? --> Offsider?

From what ive seen of him he is a good player, but doubt if he is good enough to make the big time.Is copping a lot of expectation as he is the son of the polished centreman in Neville Fields , whom was a very very good player at Essendon and later the Swans. If he was an outstanding young player , wouldnt have Essendon grabbed him under the father/son rule by now.

I wouldn't touch him with any pick inside the top 40 but that's just me, others clearly rate him highly. I think that he has a high chance of being a bust, and imo he is a bit soft. I like Boston as a player and he is an option definitely for pick 33.

I think Quigley has done a great job at his selections in the phantom draft, Gartlett, O'Brien and White are all great prospects with high upside, but also a lot of risk. It would solve a lot of problems we have with our future forward line.

Cheers everyone. I was a bit surprised that O'Brien and White lasted to me. On talent both are up there with any KPF available this year and if we took both chances are one of them might work out to be decent. O'Brien is one guy I could see being a surprise high pick come draft day.

If the Lions are comfortable that Menzel's knees will hold together Joel Selwood style then he would be in the mix at 8. He unquestionably has the talent it is just the injury risk that is going to be the issue and you would have to have major kahoonies to take him in the top 10. GC or GWS would be the destination I would expect as they have the young talent to absorb an injury like that.

McBean is one I could definately see falling into the 40s although I have him in the top of the second round atm. He is very shy about getting involved in contests and I am sure that teams are going to mark him down for that.

For a roughie to make the top 10 - Jesse Lonergan to Richmond at 9. There is a fair bit of talk for Vlastuin to them at that pick but for me I think Lonergan is the better prospect.

Agree with Offsider - great picks Quigs - would be quite chuffed if we ended up with that... there's a few players that i'd love in the teens, but don't think any are worth pick 8, nor will they last to 24. Garlett would be a great addition though - the NRL Town of Brisbane would be the perfect remedy for his past attitude - and O'Brien is one I'd love to see here. White I haven't seen, but at 33, I'd be satisfied with a risky pick, and from what I've heard, he could be a star or could be delisted w/out a game - worth the risk to get that sort of potential.

That'd give us a depth of KPFs, and we'd then get to play around, and try some back, see how they go. I know Lisle's done bits in the backline, and wouldn't be surprised to see that if we pick up 3 or 4 KPFs over the next few years.

McBean is one i would not be happy with. We don't need more ruckmen. Leuey, Longer and Martin are ruckman who can rest at an end. McBean is the same, but not as good (as the first two at least). As well as that, we already have a few KPPs who can sub through ruck (Maguire, Merrett, Lisle... even Patfull and Browny have taken the odd ruck contest over the years). Why we'd need another ruckman i've no idea.

As much as I rate Garlett and the perfect fit for us it is in my view an enormous risk to take him at 8. He is every chance to last till 24. The only obstacle I see is Collingwood as they have three picks before Brisbane. The Pies may think it a worthwhile risk to use one of those picks on Garlett.

Some really good picks there Quigley and would not be disappointed if our draft went that way. For a bit of balance I wouldn't have minded seeing a KPD in there at one of the picks but I'm guessing those available weren't terribly exciting and White's potential was too hard to ignore.

Good to see another redhead get a go at the lions as well, never hurts ;)
