Out of interest, who do you ranked higher Quigley, Shaw or Jaksch? As both players and forwards.

I have Jaksch higher. I think Jaksch is probably the best KPD in this draft and hence he his higher generally. As forwards it is a much harder call to make but I still probably have Jaksch as the preference if I had to take one at 8. Shaw has the higher ceiling but the risk associated with him is high and he doesn't really have a fall back position. Jaksch on the other hand is a much lower risk prospect but I see the best case scenario for him being quite a bit lower than for Shaw.

Jimmy Toumpas from his interview passes the no dickhead rule and he is a Brisbane supporter. Shame he is going to in the top 3 picks.

Everything I've read screams that Toumpas is next to no chance to be available when it's our turn to pick. As you said, he's more than likely gone by Pick 3:(

Whereas, Plowman being still there at 8 seems a reasonable chance.

It was in that context that I framed my post.

I'd love us to snag Toumpas (and I'm sure he's a great guy)......just don't see it as remotely possible given our position in the draft.

You know, now that you mention it, I never thought that you thought that Jaksch reminded you of Lisle.
I made a mistake lets not harp on it and move the discussion of the 2012 draft continue.

Reckon it is worse this year.

Yeah, don't know what I'd do without a bunch of posters here regurgitating whatever they read on the Drafts and Trading board passed off as their own opinions. Probably just click the link to that forum and read it directly...

So anyway, Chris25 just mentioned he likes a player, and therefore I am going to claim that I rate that player highly... Thoughts?

Oh BD ,I thought I made a good contribution ,I read it off the AFL site about the Bulldogs and he is supposed to join their ferocious midfielders.
I thought seeing they took Pask ,Aker and Shermo off us ,its time we took someone of theirs
Besides I like his name too.Jonos are good at Brisbane..:p

Part of posting and contributing to the community is copping it on the chin when stuff like that happens (or ninja-editing before anyone sees ;)). Nobody is really having a crack at you Bert Man, just having a giggle.

All I can think of when I hear the name Plowman:

I would be very happy with that. 2 forwards who can absolutely dominate, and some genuine X-factor in the other 2 midfielders.

Can they? I would have thought dominant forwards would go in the first 5 picks.

Let's keep a lid on it a bit.

My only problem for taking someone like Jaksch at 8 is that the mids at pick 24 and 33 are not as good as Orourke, Mayes ( Mid potential) and co. Quigley or Offsider how big are the differences between players like Orourke and Mayes compared to player like Graham, Lonergan and Pongracic and how big are the differences between Jaksch and someone like Spencer White as a forward and Tanner Smith as a defender.

They normally would, but these players have shown some genuine ability to crash packs, and have the freakish skill set to match.

There are plenty of examples like Cale Morton of players dominating before being drafted and not performing in the AFL. There are also guys like Jack Redden who didn't do a lot in juniors but is a very good AFL footballer. Just because they get drafted early doesn't make them a gun at AFL level.

Every year there are great KPP prospects in the draft, yet few actually go on to be anything above servicable at AFL level. KPP are very hard to nail outside of your best of the best selections, such as a Hogan or a Patton. Those two you could be fairly confident about, but everyone in between is very hit and miss.

Jack Watts was meant to be one of the better forward prospects in the last few years. I'm with Bert Man on this one, i'd rather take one of the top few best mids, rather than use that pick on a KPP that is far from a sure bet. Use the later picks for that.

Watts in uniquely and in every way soft if we ever drafted a peanut like him... "What was that I'd rather Jarrad Grant" na I wouldn't go that far, but Watts is a full on spud and well something went wrong with him from day one. If was playing in the same Forward 50 as Browny he could be an all out star. The environment in which a player trains in is pivotal to his development. If Rockliff was a Melbourne player would he be a B&F winner? No he would be playing in the VFL.

You can make arguments about where the player lands and their development, but at the end of the day, if the player is a 'gun' like people think they are, they will play very well at any club. It's not solely on the development side, although it does play a big part. People just get carried away each year, especially with KPP. If there was a couple of 'gun' forwards each year every club would have a Franklin/Roughead, but they don't, and roughead i wouldn't even classify as a 'gun'. True gun KPP's that you can hang your hat on when you draft them are few and far between.

I don't think my post had anything do really do with your post I think I was rambling on a little :(
