That would definitely move him up my list of who I would want at pick 8 if available.

From the very little footage available, seems to be a taller, stronger, more mobile version of Tippett. Actually kicks a bit like him as well (not pretty). If he is still there at 8 I suspect we might go for him as best available, and on the basis that he is closer to playing seniors than most young ruck types and could become a very useful FF sooner rather than later.

TO understand Brodie Grundy you need to know these numbers: He's 18 years old, 202cm tall and weighs 100kg.

He's played less than 50 games of football in his life and had played only seven when Darel Hart added him to the state under-16 squad three years ago.

"I still haven't had anyone teach me how to ruck," Grundy says.
"I think sometimes people forget. You get all this pressure and the demands and I haven't even played 50 games of footy. I'm still learning."

According to this excerpt from a recent article in the Sunday Mail, seems he wouldn't mind moving interstate either:
HE says all the right things, but it's not as though he's simply spewing out lines from a "What to say to AFL recruiters and the media" manual.
Take the prospect of moving interstate for example.
"I reckon if you stay home some people have the tendency to feel a bit safe," he says.
"A few boys I know who got drafted last year, it just seemed like they felt like they'd made it already.
"I don't want that because I know I've got a lot to work on."
I'm warming to the idea.

A ruckman? **** off stop wasting high picks on a bloody ruckman FFS. any ruck taken with anything but a 3rd round pick or worse is a waste!!!!!

I wouldn't mind taking him and developing him into a KPF aslong as he gets rid of that blonde streak, what was he thinking.

Why was he in jail... I forgot

Well I may be exaggerating about the jail time but I think he was the muscle in some kind of robbery.

Surely GWS wouldn't pass on a player like Grundy. Giles and Grundy sets up their ruck department for the next 10-12 years.

Unless they get Tippett, Tippett and Giles rotating through the forward line would still work for them, depending on what the AFL does to Kurt.

If Grundy is there at 8 I would pick him in the blink of an eye, much like Longer last year, far too much value a pick to go past regardless of what rucks we currently have.

As would I. And with Hudson gone, and talented yet extremely injury-plagued Luey probably at that point in his football career where another big injury may very well be curtains for his career, why not take Grundy! Longer is developing nicely and who knows; perhaps either Grundy or Longer may be groomed into a gorilla FWD. Let them battle it out for that role ;)

Leuy has had one injury in 3 years. It happened to be bad, but before that had no injury past at all. I still think he'll be the no. 1 ruck for a few years and longer the ruck/forward. It will be an extremely tough job for the recruiters if in unlikelihood he's available at 8. Do they go best available despite a lack of need in that area? imo, only if thy believe Grundy can be a KPF and has the potential to be solely a KPF. A 3rd top 10 ruckman designated for the ruck position, that's a stretch ;)

That's not really true, Dan. He's had a couple of bad knee injuries (opposite knees) and he arrived with groin trouble.

22 games 2010, 22 games 2011, one injury 2012. He also had one injury in '09. While I admit these have been quite serious, that's two injuries.
I'm not a doctor, but would it be dumb luck that when he's had an injury he's lost a season, or would it possibly be that he has some sort of weakness where he gets injuries quite severely? That info would decide whether he's injury prone or not. I don't have the knowledge to comment on his groin trouble.

i think we are at very long odds to take another ruckman at pick 8 unless its tippett and even longer odds to take him

He also had a knee injury in 08, and OP in 06. That's four significant injuries.

I think it's fair to call him injury prone, but it might just be bad luck.
