Smart move. Guessing they figured they get wacked for two drafts. Give up top picks in this one and that leaves them with only next year.

So they go from 20, 54, 64 to 62, 81 and 95. Seems like a big downgrade but if you take out Rookie upgrades its more like 60, 71 and 75. In whats been described as a fairly even draft after the top 20 or so its certainly possible that they get 2 out of 3 of the players they were originally targeting. In which case they limit the damage pretty well. In future drafts too they will be excluded from trading draft picks, whereas they have already done that this year so the damage is once again reduced.

Smart move
Actually two out of those three are rookie upgrades (Callinan and someone else), so they only drop from 20 to 62. Then they'll delist Tippett before the PSD, to bring back Joyce.

All I can think is that they've already come to a deal with the AFL, and this is part of it. Otherwise makes no sense.

If that's the case, then in my opinion this is a sad inditement on the independence of the AFL's judicial processes.

Adelaide already have Brad Crouch joining their side next season anyway, who will probably be better then anyone they would've got at 20. As they have their highest rated player they would've had access to this draft regardless of any potential penalties, it probably made sense to get on the front foot and sacrifice this years' picks.

Does this action from the Crows (further) prejudice Tippett's "case"?

If so, they may well think that this is another little nail in his coffin?

Sneaky Crows:)

I was more wondering about the impact on the allegations involving the other Crows' employees (past or present). If the club is effectively admitting wrongdoing, it might make it more difficult for the likes of Reid and Trigg to make a case that they were innocent. They can still run the line - "we were only doing what we were told", I guess.

Just watched some highlights of Stringer, and I think in those he looks a terrific prospect. Can definitely understand why some here a buzzing about him making it to the Lions. In one vid he says he bases his game on Goddard and Pav, but I see a lot of Vossy in him, down to the broken leg. Like Voss he seems self assured, keeps it simple, and plays tough. I've read some opinions calling him arrogant, but I don't agree, he is the type who says it as it is, and uses the least amount of words to express it. Would be very pleased to see him become a Lion.

Wines is the one I'm worried about. A lot of people are saying he has a big head.

Saw young Wines interviewed on 10 tonight, appeared to be a level headed kid with a good supportive family.

If we dont get Jono I would like him please.

Don't know much about any of these young men, really. But from the slithers of footage available, I'm inclined to agree with you. Wines seemingly goes the extra distance to talk tough. However, a month or so ago I read an article in the age about he and Viney, and their relation, I came away from it thinking he's alright. Who knows?
