Jeez imagine Grundy ending up at Collingwood...sliding big time currently.

Wonder who'd we'd choose if Port took Wines and we had the choice between Mayes and Menzel...
Just can't imagine Port would take a risk on a Victorian country kid when there are two highly rated Croweaters available.

You never know. We haven't recruited many KPPs recently.
Assuming we take a mid at pick 8, a KPF is our biggest need and that is why Shaw or O'Brien would be perfect. Sounds like Shaw could be available at 23 but word is that O'Brien will go to the Pies.

I think come draft time Brodie Grundy will be snapped up earlier. I think a player who is a as talented as he is and still has so much potential to fulfil could not possibly slide all the way top pick 17. I would be so happy if we got Oliver Wines. Ready made player and I think he would be a big steal at pick 8. Wines and Moloney could fix our clearance problem next year straight away.

If Twomey is right, and Menzel is top 2-3 on talent, I say pull the trigger. Has the potential to be an absolute game breaker - something we ain't got.
Mind you Stringer was a possible pick 1. I'm hoping we pick him up if there at #8, he is a true elite prospect capable of playing a variety of positions

Exactly why we should be now. Cupboard is bare
It's ONLY the JB replacement that worries me; the backs look ok for the next 3 - 5 seasons, with Clarke developing in the ressies. Unless there is a standout KPF, I say take best available with our 2nd and 3rd rd. picks :thumbsu:

#8 Menzel
#23 Membrey
#32 Lonergan

Agree with Panthera. Unless there is a KPF that we are confident in, i think we should stay with best available. However, i would hope we would use 1 of 24 or 33 on a high risk/reward type player, such as a White. Considering Wines was a long shot at best, and now might be a possibility, perhaps we might be happy enough to take him, then use the other 2 picks on some KPP depth.

I'm very much with Quig's line of thinking with this draft, go for the high risk high reward type KPPs in this draft, don't play it safe. There isn't much in the way of top shelf KPP quality in this draft, you'll have to find a gem in the rough this year.

You don't revise phantom drafts unless you're pretty sure that's what will happen. IMO there is a greater than 50% chance that Ollie win be a Lion this time tomorrow.
Agree, to revise the phantom draft on the AFL website, he must have got some late mail. Come on dogs, let Wines slip through.

That's why I like Siggins as a KPD. He is similar height to Clarke at 196 but slightly heavier (88kg vs 83), is mobile and seems to have a good dose of aggression. And he's from Tassie so no go home factor.

There is no way Port will take Wines if they have three talented SA to draft from (Grundy, Menzel and Mayes). If Wines gets to us, then is a another Daniel Rich situation. I'll be praying to the footy gods to get Wines to Brisbane.
