If both of the tall forward we picked have elite endurance that could imply we want them to play sooner rather then later.

Still, dissappointed that we didn't get one of White/Shaw. Power really brutalized us.

It's not them personally but the fact we drafted 3/3 forwards.

That is what pisses me off.

Mayes will rotate through the midfield eventually. We are also elevating a midfielder and a key defender.

Has the look on his face that he wanted to stay in SA.
That's what catching somebody with a photo unawares will do. I don't see why you are panicing so much, BS17. It's all cool. We haven't seen any of these guys play, and we don't really know what Mayes is thinking. Let's see what happens.

Doesn't look too happy.

Membrey and Graham big sliders.
Bad choice Brisbane will be gone with in the year could lose both Karny and Mayes the same year could get some handy draft picks though

Why 3/3 forwards? Very keen to hear the justification.

Paparone's dad has cancer.
From a Greek family.
Don't like the look of this. Go-home factor is well and truly there.

You don't think the club would have looked into this before recruiting him?

Marco:

"It'd be tough to move away but because he's doing great, it'd be OK. I'll go anywhere. Playing AFL would be a dream."

Geez you post some absolute shit. Dribble.

i was shocked too but we forget there are other things that go into drafting other than just talent etc, some people interview in a certain way and club also assesses the go home factor with certain players who probably give that impression in their inteviews and they take that into account when making their decisions, Paperone could either be a runnng CHF or maybe we wanna use him as a midfielder, he was highly rated in the mock drafts during the year, Close ive gone and read his profile on quigleys and knightmares he seems a good prospect too, they see him as a defender maybe

I am very happy that we picked up two KPF to be honest. It was an area of need for us and it is good that we now have two young players who will slowly develop for us. Added bonus is that we recruited a classy mid/forward who has the potential to be a good player.

I wouldn't worry about Mayes looking upset to be honest. If I was a potential draftee on draft day who had a big chance to remain in my home state and then got drafted to another state I would be upset and disappointed initially as well. After about a week though I would be looking forward to the new opportunity of moving to a new state to play professional football. Hopefully he settles in, makes some good friends, maybe finds a girlfriend and becomes a great player for the Lions. You can never pass on players because you are fearful they will get homesick.

I agree. We should delist mayes before the next list lodgement after his body language up there.

I am willing to back our recruiters to the hilt. I am extremely happy we have picked two talls and a quality mid/forward.

I think you may have just nailed it mate... this is how the club sees it too... two talls and a quality mid/forward not so much locked in forwards but versatile talls.

Once again I think Kerr and co might just might have pulled a couple of smokeys that will surprise us :)

Welcome aboard Sam, Marco and Michael... welcome to the pride, its great to have you join the family :)

And worth re-emphasising

Rob Kerr said:
It appears to me that unlike 2010 and 2011, there is a greater divergence of opinion amongst clubs as to the relative merits of this draft cohort. Some of the selections that have been speculated in the media and online also support that view. Therefore, it may well be that on November 22 there are a few surprises

Christ! They have an initial 2 year contract and just because he looks a little worried (not unexpected for an 18 year old in front of a camera being interviewed) you have already written him off?

Take a breath, have faith in the psychological analysis that our recruiters do on these guys and how shrewd we have been with drafting and trading in the last few years.
