How many supporters have been able to watch their side play in 4 consecutive (3 wins)grand finals? I for one feel blessed.Part of the excitement is watching a rebuild imo, albeit frustrating at times. I'm extremely confident of this current group and its potential. I can't believe these new kids are getting bagged before they even put their jumper on. Counting the sleeps for season 2013.
Im hearing ya, whilst our glory years from early 2000'S will be forever etched into my memory, i have never been so interested and pumped for drafts as i have for the last few years

I am a little concerned about Close's agility. Seems to have the turning circle of a freighter. Then again, that sounds familiar...
Interesting how people can see things very differently. I was thinking how mobile he looks for a guy standing 196. And compared to the current version of Browny he turns like a half cabin. Remember too that he is still growing into his body.

Turning circle is one thing that doesn't tend to reduce as you grow into your body. :D

Is the "Good Doctor's" Draft Review due out today ?? ......(LI - ???????)

Won't be far away Crusha - will likely be posted online at some stage today (Wednesday).

Hopefully it gives the fans a clearer picture of what roles our draftees are expected to play in the future.

Despite standing at 194cm, Kerr does reveal that "Marco (Paparone) does not play as a key forward, and we are not expecting that of him". Michael Close, on the other hand, is considered the Club's "one true key position type" from last week's Draft.

As we look to the Rookie draft we are hopeful of adding a couple of additional players to our list. Certainly there were a couple of young players who we felt would be drafted who missed out and we feel could have futures at AFL level. The club will make a decision on whether we participate in the next week.

Given this thinking has seen us pick up both Golby and Crisp (although also Dyson), I'm actually a bit excited by this turn of phrase to see who we might get.

Sounds like the rumours we were keen on Jaksch were true. It would seem that he was overlooked because they liked the tall options likely to be available with the 2nd and 3rd pick.

And because they didn't rate him as high as a pick 8.

And because they didn't rate him as high as a pick 8.

It's possible they did rate Jaksch in the top 8, but wherever they rated him, obviously they rated Mayes higher.

It seems like the club really rated Mayes highly and he was a highly sought after player. The club probably realises that they lack key position players of quality and thought about addressing this problem early before deciding Mayes was better. Also the club doesn't view Paparone as a kpf yet he seems to think he is a chf, it will be interesting to see where he ends up playing

It's interesting that despite both playing at centre half forward, Kerr has stated Close is a developing key forward but Paparone is not. I think it was Quigley who said that contested marking is not a strength for Paparone. Kerr also thinks Close's body is better suited to adding bulk. Any other contributing factors?

Paparone lacks a few attributes that all the decent kpf players have. He is an average contested mark and pack mark, although this could improve, his game style is more of the lead up type he doesn't play the kpf game when I have seen him and he also lacks the dominant presence that the best kpf players have. Still I wouldn't rule out him becoming a chf if he adds a fair bit of body mass and improves his marking.

So if Paparone is our high half forward/third tall with a big tank and great agility where does this leave Ace in the next few years?

Sounds like Paparone could have a number of roles. I am excited about watching him develop. Could be anything I think. It seems like the club is expecting Mayes to develop into a genuine midfielder but will start his career up forward. I think we have done really well in the draft this year. I am pumped to see how they go over the next few years. I can't wait till the CLOSER is 10kgs heavier and snapping necks.

Same place he is now. Battling to secure a permanent spot in the seniors.

Nothing wrong with competition. Ace is pretty close to delistment, if he doesn't improve he'll get cut; should give Ace motivation to give it his 110%.

It leaves Ace needing to be better than his team mates to get a game.

I found it interesting because they are both 18 year olds, and both have had things identified that they need to develop. It's probably a draft novice comment - those that have seen him play all seem to agree that it's not his go.

Also wish to repeat... Gee it's nice to have access to these types of communications.

Always interesting reading the players analysis compared to those on here.

And do love that there is an arm length test at the combine.
I'm a little surprised they still do them...

It's been years since I was last told we have to wait until the sun is over the yard arm before it's time to start drinking?
