I know trade month hasen't happend yet and if we dont get tippett. And our picks stay the same what do you guys think of these players for our picks. As all the players I have here are ranked at about our picks
8.Ben Kennedy
23.Kristian Jaksch
30.Rory Atkins
49.Clay Cameron
I think it could be a pretty good draft for us if it fell this way

Would take Jaksch at that pick but with the later picks another KPP and think Kennedy will go in the teens and prefer Wines, O'rourke, Mayes or Stringer.

The problem of Jaksch at pick 23 is that he is at this stage a very slim chance of falling to that pick. If he was available at pick I would take him in a micro second :p

Do suns have 1st dibs over cameron due to zone concesions ????

Ben kennedy the kid looks good , BUT I think he will go past pick 8, and if gartlett is still available I would pick him before kennedy.

I really rate Garlett too but I thought he would be gone by the time our pick came around. I see him going to the Bulldogs at 6 as they need some pacey players I would take him too if avilable

Kennedy is a good prsopect. I'd probably rate guys like Wines, Garlett and Menzel ahead of him though.

It is highly unlikely that Jaksch will for that far. If he did I would pounce on him.

Atkins is one who I think people are overrating, Has potential but is far too inconsistent for my liking. If he gets taken in the top 35 I will be very surprised.

Based on potential Garlett is up there with Daniher the only thing that worries me is his commitment and the fact that he has had off field discretions. If those things werent an issue he probably wouldnt be in our pick 8 calculations.

I am going to back the club to select an extremely talented player who is over flowing with potential and keep him under control. Why not take a risk when if it pays off he could be the finishing touch to our midfield?

Fair enough. IIRC clubs had were deliberating whether or not c.rioli had the right attitude etc. If Garlett does become a Lion hopefully I will be proven wrong.

I really dont envy the recruiters with the tough decisions that will come around at pick 8. Saying that Wines would be my choice at pick 8 :D

I get bit funny with trading picks for players especially where we are at the moment. For me the first two are untouchable and would like to see the first three picks used in the draft. If that was to happen I would be happy and trust Hadley and Co. with whom they pick as best available or to fill specific needs at those picks. I certainly have a few in mind at those picks and history says that some guys slide and some rise. Be fairly happy with KPF, KPD And mid in no specific order but certainly do have my favs.

Personally at Pick 8 depending on who is there I would prefer Plowman. Plowman would solve the problem that we have at CHB, he would be a great addition to our backline and provide a lot of run and carry, his disposal is very good and his defensive work is also very good. He could take a year in the backline, but with Justin Clarke would be the future of our defence, Macguire, Merrett and Patful are coming to the twilight of their careers, Macguire especially and Plowman would give us an option, he could also come in and play as a swingman and go forward a bit.

At pick 23 I would pick up another tall, Tim O'Brien, he looks to have a ton of potential as a tall forward, will take a while to come on though. Also don't be surprised if Stringer and Mason Shaw are available here, I can see him sliding a fair bit.

At pick 30 it would depend what mid sized player are there, but I rate Adam Carter very highly as prospect, although he hasn't come on like I would have hoped. Tim Broomehead is a very likely type, makes great decisions and uses the ball well but could go higher. Taylor Garner could go higher but as a high half-forward he looks to be a great prospect, good overhead and below his knees. But my choice if he is available would be Matthew Haynes, as an outside ball carrying wing he is a very good prospect with high upside, struggled a bit this year, but uses the ball well, is super quick and runs the lines brilliantly, he is a good height and would add something to our team.

At pick 49, Clay Cameron would represent excellent value, but I would make a trade with Gold Coast for him, ie their pick 25 + Cameron for Pick 23.

Top post Offsider. Plowman is one we could very well look at with 8 depending on what happens during trade month.

You already know I'm a big fan of O'Brien.

Haynes is interesting for mine. Will probably be taken somewhere between 20 and 30.

Like the Idea for a trade as well

Scott Clouston 25 year old 194cm KPF from Redlands was on our list 2008-2009. Article in the Courier mail about him today saying he is being look at by AFL recruiters after a great season for Redlands. Kick 5 goals in a state game and 56 this year for Redlands. Do you think the Lions will pick him up again?

You see Plowman holding down CHB?

I wonder who wrote that article for Hammo cause I can't imagine he'd know who Clouston would be otherwise.

I'd be surprised if we picked him up just because it's generally quite rare for clubs to reselect players they have delisted. Saying that, you never know.

What's the general opinions about Clouston from those who are regular watchers of the NEAFL?

I actually went to school with Rory Atkins.

Year below me but everyone knew he would make the AFL.

I went to school with Clay Cameron who was also a year below me. Just need to find classmates of Jaksch and Kennedy and we'll have blueiris's complete set :D

A question for our resident scouts. Will Freddie Clutterbuck come into drafting consideration? He has had a great year in the WAFL for East Perth.

I'm keen, just because of the name. For too long, Collingwood and Hawthorn have hogged the funny names in footy (Sidebottom and Roughead). I'm aware we've got Adcock, but Clutterbuck would fit nicely.

Seriously, though, has he dominated enough to earn a senior spot? Normally for players who missed the draft to get recruited, they need to have an extraordinary season (Zorko, Barlow etc). No clue whatsoever on Clutterbuck (I love saying it) but he'd need to have been very, very good to get the nod.

I'd be less wary about Menzel if he had a traditional knee reco (I'm aware Bartlett had a traditional reco), but I don't think we know enough about the long term viability of LARS yet. Makes it a bigger risk in my opinion.

Yeah the LARS turns me off him. If we keep pick 8 (a big if considering the Tippett saga), I don't think we're in a position to use it on a kid with his injury background. If he falls to 23, I'd pick him up with no worries. But when there will quite probably be a few very good players still in the pool around pick 8, I think I'd prefer to take one of them.

But, if we decide to take the punt, I'll have full confidence that we've undertaken the necessary tests.

You see Plowman holding down CHB?

Obviously early days, but don't we need someone who can play fullback? I'd seen Clarke as a future CHB rather than FB. Don't know enough about Plowman to make a call, though.

I think that Plowman would be a great CHB prospect, he is very good defensively, maybe a little undersized at 191cm is a little bit of a worry, but he has terrific athleticism, and sticks to his job well. Alternatively he would make a good third tall similar to Patful or the role Josh Gibson plays for the hawks. His run off the half-back line and his skills are elite and really impressive.

I could see Plowman and Clarke working well together in a defensive unit together, both are capable of providing excellent run from defence, but i think that Clarke will take the bigger forwards once he puts some size on.

Size is the issue for me with Plowman. Whilst forwards are getting bigger I don't think I would be comfortable taking an undersized KPD at 8. I think he ends up as a third tall and again 8 is overpaying for that role. For me there is a lot of talent in the KPD stocks this year and I am definately advocating taking a couple but probably not at 8.

O'Brien at the compo pick I am all in favour of. I think he will be a late riser. Carter is another who I would like a bit more size on but I did like him quite a bit when I saw him live. He is a very smart footballer and he was probably the best inside mid WA had when I saw them. I would be happy for us to pick him up.

Any thought of trading with GWS for any of the NT guys? There are a couple there that I am warming to putting Anderson aside.

That's where I'm at with Plowman.
