That's good to hear if true. As for Boston hasn't had a meeting with Brisbane yet.

He said he had an interview with "the Zorkos". Does that mean us?

Because you can get an elite midfielder who can be the star of your group for 10+ years with pick 2.

I must admit, I am going to find it very hard to hate the Suns in the short term if they force Melbourne to take Viney at pick 3.

So *if* we were to get pick 2 ... would we be nominating for Viney on behalf of the rest of the competition or would we be just as happy with Viney instead of Whitfield/Toumpas?

The F/S nominations and bids happen before trading for drafts. So if the Suns bid #2 and Melbourne do not match it, than pick 2 is not to be traded.

So if Suns say 2 and Melb say 3 then Melb are locked for 3 and Suns can do what they like with 2 but if Melb says not at that price then Suns are locked for 2 and Melb do what they like with 3.

Got it! Thanks

Correct on all counts.

Pie in the sky but let's have a crack:

8 and Banfield - Hogan
23 Simpson or Cameron/Boston
30 Hovrat or Cameron/Boston
Third rd - N Rodda, A Howson or A Corr

If GWS signed Banfield on a big contract we could get a band 3 comp. pick for him and then pick 8 and Banfield compensation pick for mini-draft pick 2. Could try and do a Brennan type deal.

My first thought was "Jarrad Oakley Nicholls".

When I saw him in the champs I was very impressed. However, I think the price you'd have to pay in the mini-draft is overs.

See Boston aced the brad Johnston kicking test. Assuming the recruiters obviously have their players in mind, do you think something like this could possibly sway them if they hadn't really considered him.haven't seen footage of him, just going off what i read on here. A few seem warmed to him.

Quigley - is Lonergan too popular to be your div 2 gem this year?

I wasn't going to do one this year as I didn't think anyone was up to it. Lonergan was probably the closest but I didn't get to see him live this year which is usually a prereq for me. I am reconsidering the decision though and might go with him if I can convince myself from the tape.

The kicking tests are done under no pressure and are just about hitting targets as well as recruiters getting to look at players kicking techniques up close. I don't think it would really matter too much and wouldn't change a clubs assessment of a player. It would only hurt a prospect if he did really badly in the kicking test and could see them drop a bit. Clubs would rate players on their skills from how they perform in games and how their disposal stands up under pressure. From what I have seen of Boston his disposal is very silky and although not a booming kick he will most targets with a minimum of fuss.

Cheers for that. Wasn't sure of the logistics of the testing.

Good objective quantitative testing will always inform a selection decision, rather than stand as the sole deciding factor.
Agree, manipulated variables should always have the final say. ;)

Yeah they have.

From memory: Clouston, Grewar, Davey, Wyld, Fields.

***May have missed some.

Smith and Wardle (state 18's and both played some NEAFL games at end of season), although not on any of the released AFL invite lists, also more recently added to group testing from Qld.

For Qld state screening boys testing on Sat this week at Ethiad - day after combine finishes -so presumably will still be a fair few recruiters watching on
