What a wank*#. Is he supposed to be 'the list manager' cause if he is he might want to look at our list first. Really explains how Richmond stuffed up their drafts.

It annoyed me as well how he thinks to be a good small forward you have to be indigenous.

A lot of people think that nowadays.
It seems very PC to say it's not true, but to a degree, it is... Not that you have to be indigenous to be a good small forward, but that indigenous athletes in the AFL are, more often than not, quick, zippy, and smaller... perfect for a small forward role. It's a stereotype, and it's not always true, but it's certainly true in many cases at the professional level.

I don't think I'll get attacked for that, but just incase, I disclaim the following:
I'm not racist. I don't think that indigenous, black, or any other ethnicity of people are worth more or less than others, or even are better or worse at certain sports than others. I simply believe that different races have their differences, even physiologically, and I don't think these should be ignored for purposes of not wanting to appear racist.

Racist.

I always thought that the best small forwards were not indigenous, but dickheads. Hey Milne, Ballantyne!

Does anyone know the layout of responsibilities of our drafting team? Obviously Hadley was the lead from 2008 through to the beginning of this year. Reading http://www.lions.com.au/tabid/5085/default.aspx?newsid=128457 though, it's hard to say whether we have an overall drafting specialist (Conole seems to have the closest job description in that article) or if the buck stops with Kerr. If the latter, I hadn't realised he had much input into drafting - I thought he was largely on the trading and contracting side of things.

To answer my own question, it looks like it's Conole - we no longer have a National Recruiting Manager (Hadley's old title) and now only have a Senior Recruiting Manager (Conole's new title).

From http://www.lions.com.au/administration operations staff/tabid/5218/default.aspx:

TALENT MANAGEMENT National Talent Manager - Rob Kerr
Manager, Brisbane Lions Academy - Luke Curran
Head Coach, Brisbane Lions Academy - Scott Borlace
Senior Recruiting Manager - Stephen Conole

SA & WA Recruiting Manager - Graham Hadley
Vision Coordinator and AFL List Analyst - Andrew Farrell
Talent Identification Officer, Northern Region - Ashley Drake

FWIW we've got a similarly weird-ish structure, where Dodoro makes the big picture decisions & calls the names out, but others (Keane is one, dunno who we've got in WA but they bloody good) do the actual scouting & evaluations.

Keep in mind there are normally 4+ tiers in most club's scouting arrangements - guys who watch games for chump change (and have no idea who they're going to pick) at the bottom, regional co-ordinators, full-time guys then the top management types (Dodoro/Kerr).

would be great at pick 8 if we get either mayes or garlett or take a punt on stringer
pick 24 jesse longeran or pognriach if they are around, would love shaw but he won't get past Freo's first pick
and pick 33 perhaps take a punt on spencer white or tanner smith or hrvoat

though I'm sure like the previous two years they have some bolters lined up for pick 24 and 33 they rate that aren't rated on big footy who will be stars

Im a bit upset we didn't get another, but now the recruiters can make a list of 25-30 players they would happily select. I also hope we take Boston at pick 33. Do we have a pick in the PSD I think we do could someone confirm it?
