have been advised by a very good collingwood friend this is exactly what Eddie mcguire at collingwood did to establish a good depth of list now - keep players on for a certain timeframe then move then on if they are not going to get you into finals

- as for options in forward line go after Jesse hogan and mason shaw --- brown will be there to nuture them

How long ? - depend on who we recuit - and how desparate these guys to be successful at the elite level - still stick with current lions 2015 target

And if they don't become a good KPF, then what?

The target is 2016 if I remember correctly. Our group is still developing and has improved from lost year.

Goddard is 27. I don't think we're in a position to be giving up much for anyone of that age - we're just not going to get value for money.

I have the same philosophy - if we are unwilling to change and just accept where we are simply apathetic . To grow we need to build an exciting group - I would also recuit Paul Roos as coach

This is the draft thread, please don't clutter it up with trade rubbish.

Pick 8: Dayle Garlett
Pick 23: Sam Colquhoun, Nathan Hrovat or Rory Atkins.
Pick 30: Rory Atkins, Taylor Garner, Tom Cluery,Jesse Lonergan
Pick 48: Mature Aged player. Tom Lee, Ben Saunders, Myke Cook
Would be happy if we walked away from the draft with any of these players at our picks.
Correct if Im wrong at what number our picks are.
Oliver Wines or Jonathan O'Rouke would be very good pick ups for our first pick but may not fall to us.
Thoughts?

Assuming we don't trade for Tippett, Wines is one I'd be looking at but I don't think he will be available at our pick. I think Macrae is a perfect fit for us, he is similar to Polec but with a better defensive game than Polec when he was drafted.

I think Atkins is a bit overrated.

Fair enough. I put Atkins their based on his potential thinking about it more. Out of three players I listed there Atkins does have the most potential, but if I was calling out the name on draft day I would choose Lonergan he is low risk I don't like when people recruit based on potential. I don't think I'm alone on that one.

I would love to get Wines, but whether he will be around at pick 8 would be the only concern, considering it is a midfielders draft this year. I like to get Macrae, but pick 8 is a to high price to pay for and i'll doubt he will be around pick 23.

I think he may push into the top 10. Probably my favorite player of the draft, so I may overrate him.

I'd trade Golby............

For a top 20 pick.
Okay, how's this for a trade - bet I could reverse your quoted opinion for a bottle of raspberry cordial?

Seriously?

What about Myles Sewell would anyone be interested in him being a Lion next year. I would take him in a heartbeat.

Ahhhh myles Sewell, was wondering when his name would pop up again.
Had to happen eventually ;) , but in all seriousness we should take a really good look at him he has put in the hard yards and deserves a crack.
