The knock on Dobosz is that he is athletically quite poor, his sprint times were very slow from memory and he didn't have any outstanding features. His marking mas average, and he didn't read the game overly well but just had the one really good game last year at the Champs then did not much for the rest of them if I can recall correctly. Justin Clarke looks to be a much better athlete, has decent speed it would seem, and really moves nicely for a big bloke.

Jesse Lonergan looks to be a decent prospect but one I rate as a second/third rounder, he is a very good inside ball winner and uses it quite well, doesn't have the upside some others do but is still a good prospect. I wouldn't say from watching him that he is anything but a solid athlete, I think his pace would be average hence he is more an inside player.

Re. Lonergan, I heard reports during the nationals that his pre-season testing for 20m was in the 2.8's - if true, pushes him into the elite category.

Reminds me of a Richard Osborne type... :)

What do Tom Bell and Dayne Zorko have in common?

Answer: They featured in my mock multiple times before the professionals finally twigged to them. I have a 100% success rate on NEAFL guys who have featured multiple times and gone onto be picked up by an AFL team*.

So which NEAFL player has featured the last two years?

Kallen Geary.

In all honesty I have not been following him at all.

I read a couple of articles from google just before I posted it. One had him in the best in the interstate game this year. The other was the match report from the last game of the year where it was noted that he had been BOG for the last two games of the year and was relishing the return to the midfield. Not sure where he had been playing before that. Maybe as a HBFer at a guess but for me he is an midfielder all the way.

My issue with Geary though Quigs is that he hasn't shown the marked improvement that both Bell and Zorko did. Geary was good in the state game though.

The one who has jumped out this year is Clouston. Managed to take his game to another level. State Screening invite suggests he could get picked up.

Maybe we'll have a second go at him.

Has a de-listed player ever been re-drafted by the same club before?

In saying that, I wouldn't mind picking him up at all. Seems twice the player he was when on our list.

Is he gonna leapfrog Retzlaff, Lisle or Cornelius for a KPF spot? All 3 are younger I believe.

Sadly, I hold very little hope that all three of them will be on the list by the end of the year.

On reflection, I'm not sure I'd offer anything more than a rookie spot for Clouston. Would hate for him to be the one that got away, though.

Agree, out of those 3, the one that looks most likely to leave, get traded or delisted looks to be Cornelius. :(

What would be a realistic pick we could get for ACON/KARNY personally Im a huge ACON fan and wouldnt want to lose him, BUT He may feel he could get more opportunities else where such as richmond, or bulldogs

Quigs would Mason Shaw be worth a look and if so where would he likely go in the Draft a lot of mocks have him going at 15 to Fremantle I uderstand people think we need speedy mids but we could play Green and Beams there next year with Polec getting a Forward would help us more I dont see us getting Tippett

I have been looking back through all the draftees and my notes in prep fro a mock draft, and it wouldn't surprise me if a player like Jake Stringer fell to our compo pick, or into the second rounder. I don't think he has as much talent and potential as the hype suggests. Also Mason Shaw is probably a late first rounder for mine, Kristen Jaksch I would rate higher, and Tim O'Brien would be borderline imo.

I'm hoping he tests, but I don't think he will be.

If he tests and does poorly then he will drop but not by much, however if he does well and has some good signs then he could go much higher. Its a win/loss situation but if he doesn't test the recruiters will still have a fair idea of his athletic ability and I think he will still go in the very late first early second round. I think the medical tests will be more important.

If he does test I think that his straight line speed will be reasonably good, he looks to have a good burst when he gets going, but his first 5m will be poor I think. I don't think he will do the agility test, and I think he is not very agile, he has a poor turning circle. I don't think he is as similar to Pavilich as many are suggesting. His endurance will be average due to no preseason, and he will probably have a reasonable running jump. I also have issues on his kicking, he is a solid kick but has room for improvement, with that. He is very courageous, he wills himself on the contest and he is a strong kid, I think that from all reports he is 192cm and may still grow a little bit, and he is quite a big kid. I think he will be seen as more of a KPF as he has strong hands, and is a good strong mark. He does need to work a bit harder defensively though as he can be caught out a little running forward.

IF we miss out on tippet, would the lions use there 1st pick on SHAW....IS he worthy of a 1st round draft pick.

Jackon McRae the more I read about this kid the more I would love him at the lions, any chance he could be available with our compo pick ???

Jackson McRae is probably top 15 quality, he is quite outside but capable of going and winning the hardball, a good runner, nice pace and neat skills, also hits the scoreboard well, he would be a very good player off a wing imo. I wouldn't pick him up as we have Polec sitting in the reserves who plays a similar game but is more talented.

Shaw is not worth Pick 8 imo, he has dropped a bit in my rankings I think he is a 25-15 prospect, he is a good full forward and can play as a part time ruck, but needs to improve his work rate, and really impose himself more. On a decent defender he can be easily shut down IMO.

McRae,Polec and Yeo and co. On the wings is a INCREDIBLE thought.

I think a club with an early pick that is looking for a KPF will no doubt go for Hogan. Shaw is good but does not get much of the ball and is inconsistent. The more I think about it, if he was available at our second rounder I'd probably select O'Brien if we were looking at a KPF.
Obrien would be great at our second round pick, but If Shaw would slip to our second pick I would take him and run.

I think Tim O'Brien is a very underrated player, he has an excellent all round game for a key forward. He will take 3 years or so to put some size on and could be a bit hit and miss/end up like Jarrad Grant is probably the worst case scenario, best case is a faster Jack Riewoldt.
