Depends on how he interviews but I would doubt it, on talent he is between 5 and 10 imo, but could end up 10 - 20. Also Jack Darling did not fall due to behaviour issues, it was due to his height and where he would play.

Maybe we can some how downgrade our pick 8 to two picks between pick 15-25. Then we could get Shaw, McRae and maybe Tom Clurey in the one draft.

Obrien would be great at our second round pick, but If Shaw would slip to our second pick I would take him and run.

I will have to disagree with you. Shaw was rated very highly coming into this year but has not played as well as we would have hoped for. He does not get much of the ball and is inconsistent. I'd pick O'Brien because I feel he has more potential to become a 50+ goal a year KPF. He also has a bit of a presence about him.

I think Tim O'Brien is a very underrated player, he has an excellent all round game for a key forward. He will take 3 years or so to put some size on and could be a bit hit and miss/end up like Jarrad Grant is probably the worst case scenario, best case is a faster Jack Riewoldt.

Finally, someone who agrees with me. I felt like a bit of a long wolf. That's a good comparison for O'Brien. I thought he was better than the majority of the key forwards at the u18 champs.

Cots I think your overating O'Brien sure he's a capable forward but he's not a high goalkicking forward where Shaw who seems to be getting underated is capable of kicking four to five goals a game

I would probably have Shaw higher than O'Brien but only just and it could well change. You don't just look at stats you look at future potential, and I think O'Brien has the higher upside of the two.

Shaw is quite a bit bigger than most he is playing against, he is also playing Colts but has been playing very well for the last 2 years. He plays as a genuine FF, has a fair bit of ball directed at him and beats up on a lot of smaller guys. Yet he is still does very well and is a good goal kicker.

O'Brien has been playing mainly reserves, he has kicked 2 goals most weeks recently, with a high of 4. He plays against bigger senior SANFL reserve players, men not boys. He is very skinny, quite underdeveloped and spends some time in the ruck. He has still shown that he is very hard to stop on the lead, he has great pace, and he has shown an ability to leap and contest in pack situations and take contested marks. i think that he has a ton of upside and his champs were probably a bit better than Shaw's and he showed more flashes of brilliance. Also this is O'Brien's first year in the system and he hasn't been exposed to proper coaches for as long as Shaw.

No just colts, but he has performed very very well and is the dominant KPF in that comp, he has had some dominant games and seems to be getting more of the ball and working up the ground more and staying involved which is good to see.

I really wouldn't mind if we looked to downgrade our pick for a promising midfielder, ie Wellingham, and try pick up Mason Shaw or another KPP with a lower pick. Would significantly reduce the risk factor in picking up a KPP considering there really isn't any standout KPP around the picks 5-10 mark .

How much more upside do the kpf in this draft like Hogan, jaksch and shaw have compared to the mature age kpf like coleman, haretuku and tom lee? Maybe we can get mids early and look to draft a coleman in the 3rd or 4th round.

He wouldn't play second ruck at 193cm, no matter how huge his leap is.

As for the Mature Age players, the younger high end prospects have more upside, but they could be a late option though they probably won't be the forward we are after. I don't rate Haretuku very highly, he is a good VFL player but will struggle at the AFL imo, Clouston has improved this year, but not by much he was always dominating the NEAFL even at the lions. Tom Lee is worth a shot but I think that GWS will either pick him up or trade him for a second round pick.

I feel like Shaw could be this year's Kersten. Tipped well in advance to go early but slides dramatically. I really hoped we'd pick Kersten with the pick we got Yeo for last year, but I wouldn't trade Yeo back now.

I've been thinking this for a while, but even if we do get Tippett, I think we'll draft a KPF prospect. Although that will likely depend on whether one or both of Cornelius and Retzlaff stay on the list.
