LARS reco was on his right knee. Injured knee this time is his left (kicking leg).

That's probably the worst thing that could have happened, because he'll still have the LARS hanging over him.

I can't see how any club would risk a higher than fourth/fifth rounder on Menzel now. Smacks of Beau Muston and Bartlett. High draft picks both.

i was thinking around 25-40 now.. fair amount of risk. I know our jaded history with taking a injuried player previously but if he falls after 40 i would consider him. I liked the look of Ben rioli today

Looked good didn't he? For a bloke who's only 60 odd kgs he really puts in hard. Very smart, play making disposals too.

Ben Rioli is bordering on too skinny even at NEAFL level.

Offsider, Quigley, others... Thoughts on William Farrer as a rookie possibility? Has got some nice skills, is by reports a good lad and could flourish in a full-time environment.

Mentioned him in my preview of the NEAFL Grand Final as someone who should be on an AFL list.

Has real x-factor and can do it all on the field. Murray Davis would be in as good a position to evaluate his character as anyone.

Works with one of the Clontarf Academies I think.

Agreed definitely has the ability but I have heard that this year he has really improved his attitude and his development of this side of his footy has really improved. I would look at him as a rookie definitely.

Another prospect I have shooting up my draft list is Louis Herbert, a skinny super quick medium forward from Vic Country.

Ok guys. If we select Dayle Garlett in the draft, I will streak at our first home game next year shouting "we got Garlett" "we got Garlett"!!!!!!!!!!!

In all seriousness though I have not wanted us to select a player more then him since I wanted the Lions to pick Callum Bartlett in 2009.
great to hear another garlett on what i have seen of him on talent he is a gun

Coming round to Garlett but other areas of need. Hogan picked up, 24 possessions, 10 marks, 4 goals straight and 3 tackles in a losing elimination final. I'll match your streak with every game wearing a hulk hogan outfit circa 1980s if we got him.

Agree. Bartlett may still prove to be a bargain buy but 3 years without a senior game for a midfielder isn't a great endorsement just yet for repeating the experiment.

I'd love Hogan, but have thought for some time that we're no chance of getting him and my opinion definitely hasn't changed. Both mini-draft picks will be snatched up before we have a say, I think.

What are you envisaging? Dees pick 4 and Dogs' pick 5/6?

I would love to grab Hogan, think he fits what we need perfectly, I would be prepared to even offer our top two picks to get him, but dont think that we will offer that and pick 8 by itself i doubt will be enough to get it done

Pretty much. I think the only way we'd get it over the line is 8 and a player, and not sure who GWS would want that we'd be willing to throw in as part of that deal.

IMO, there are two possible scenarios. GC use pick2 for Martin and Melb for Hogan using pick 4. If GC don't get involved and Melb still go for Hogan then yes I could see WB getting involved for Martin. I personally think that WB already have at least three young KPF in Jones, Cordy and Roughhead and don't think they need another. If Melb went for Martin then this is where it opens up for us. I would just hope that our boys are open to the possibility of going for him.

I guess one that could kick goals regularly would come in handy going into the future.

Some would argue that those three equate to bugger all in terms of young key forwards.
