I'm a bit less confident about our academy prospects as others. I worry that they look better now because of the help they have had through the academy but don't have the potential as others may have.

I don't think Queensland will go from producing 1-3 AFL standard footballers a year to producing 6+ a year all that quickly.

Was Cameron the only QLDer drafted this year?

Who's the midfelder we should have drafted in your opinion?

In the last few years we've drafted a number of backline/mid/hff's with very good disposal - Docherty, Polec, Mayes. Along with this we now have a number of forward prospects who have excellent endurance and hence more lead up forwards who take the ball out in front on the lead in Paparone, Close and even Michael (although he has pack crashing potential), as well as a couple of mid size forwards who have good footy smarts or good endurance in Karnezis and Bewick.

Some would almost say we have drafted to a plan perhaps, just not the big strong key forward who stands tall when the ball is dropped on his head plan. One might conclude that this strategy is largely designed around finding more efficient ways to goal given the largely zone defenses that teams employ now and thereby limiting the 3rd man up effect.

They can allow blokes like Green and Bewick to play more midfield time. Look at the bigger picture.

Would've been great to get more of an inside mid at some point but they didn't fall our way. Will have to continue to rely on Redden and Rocky.

Promoted rookie Jack Crisp is one who I see will benefit enormously by teaming up with Moloney over the next couple of seasons.

I think I prefer Green forward rather then mid.

I'll be happy if he fulfills his potential as a dangerous half forward flanker. We've really struggled to get talent in that position in recent years.

Sorry but I'm not happy with this draft.

Mayes will be good but I'm not happy with the others.

Others have learned to not to question our recruiting guys. Forward line is clearly where we need to add too. Mayes has the potential to develop into a midfielder.

Recruiters don't go out and pick who the fans want.

AFAIK you don't have to fill your senior list. You can then nominate a rookie at he start of the season to fill that spot. Not every club that has a senior spot free will fill it.

I reckon out of the players we have drafted in the last 3 years Docherty will be the best. Thinking of having something on him for the rising star next year

Even if Mayes doesn't play as a true on baller, he will still be a very good high lead up forward. 20+ possession roaming forward who will probably average a goal a game and set up a couple of others. We don't currently have many players able to do this. He will also at worse be able to rotate through giving someone a rest.

I think having Maloney and Beams playing in the middle next year will give us the players in the middle we need. Hopefully the likes of zorko and green playing more mid, making way for Mayes and cal and maybe Polec at HF would be good too.

I really like the thought of Mayes and Bewick as our HFF.

There's still one remaining delisted free agent period. Maybe some are saving picks for that. I'm not sure - it was definitely a lot to be passed on.
