LMAO!!! Yeah pal, I'm sure McBean will be better than Grundy.
Depends if you're talking about as a KPD (McBean's preferred position), or ruck, I guess. But you'd know those two players best, right?

I have to admit I'm no expert on McBean, but he reads more like a Jackson Trengrove type ruckman height KPD who can also play a bit forward. Very light framed still.

Time will tell captain. You obviously like him and fair enough. Brain dead though to write blokes off when they haven't even walked in the door. You are a thousand times better than that. I think you may be on strong liquor.

Not strong liquor, just a cup of green tea. We are desperate for that 3rd tall, that Edwards/Slyvia type, and he was there, looking at us, and we passed. The swans have picked up a beauty at 46. But yes, time will tell.

No but we'd at least pick talls who were actually, like, you know - "tall"....
It's irrelevant H. It's how you play,how you mark,how you move,how smart you are,your character,your scope etc etc etc.

Surprised by the selections. I'm not going to judge as I have no knowledge of the actual players but in terms of what the club needs I'm surprised by picks 31 and 33.

I'll trust that McIntosh is a good player but I thought we were pretty much set for key backs with Rance, Grimes, Chaplin and possibly Griffiths. Similar with McBean. We need backup ruckmen and he won't be ready next year.

Strange because I think the clubs biggest weakness at the moment is a third key forward and midfield depth, yet they went the other way.

Oh well best of luck to all 4 guys:thumbsu:

I wouldn't know. Haven't seen enough of either.
Judging by your comments, you seem to have a thorough knowledge of all the players in the draft.

Spent a lot of time watching TAC cup games over the last 2 years? I haven't. But I'm not the one making the calls that you are. And by the way, Melbourne and Collingwood thought Meeson and Wood were significantly better than Maric. In fact, I believe Burgan had them both rated top 10. But what would he know, he was only employed as a journo to cover the juniors.

Happy with our draft, Vlastuin will slot into the side nicely and will give us another hard at it ball winner with good skills. McIntosh and McBean give us a couple of longer term talls to develop at VFL level. McDonough is a medium forward who has shown he can kick goals and will give us another goal kicking option down the track.

It's interesting a lot of posters are complaining about the picks, yet not one of them has played a game for the club yet and only Vlastuin has pulled on the jumper. How the hell can you guys be writing them off already?

My only gripe is McBeen as a ruck, think he lacks the competitiveness I like in ruckman.

Other than that, got a steal in Kamdyn and Mcdonough I love. Vlastuin is ok.

As I said, underwhelmed but I think we have done quite well. If that makes sense.

I will write more when I get back to the hotel room.

Personally - and I have had a few glasses of red as I type this - I think that most of the people whinging would whinge anyway. Says more about you than it does about the draft picks.

No one can predict the future, so we'll hope that they turn out as guns.

Based on the here and now, I wanted an outside speed player with skill, and we haven't gone close to this. Tall project players from the early 30's is disappointing, but in the club we trust.

To my eye, we've actually got plenty of key backman, and you can always, always, always find a decent ruckman off another list. We could have taken players that would improve us from Rd 1 next year at 31 and 33, and we haven't.

I'd suggest that our recruiting staff are incredible at finding senior players and are limited in their thinking and too prone to chances with fresh recruits.

Love the sound of Vlastuin though.

Tell us more about Kamdyn & McDonough please Bob - why was seemingly there no mention of them before?

Thanks Tigerbob.
Appreciated.

Can we select nondrafted players onto our main list directly?

Really like the look of McDonough - looks like Porpyzlia. Strong bodied, medium forward. Apparently can rotate through the midfield and is a great set shot. Probably take similar to Knights, might be a good mentor for him.

McIntosh sounds like a Batchelor type. Strong body who some people were unhappy with when we drafted him. Has great endurance and apparently can play on small, medium and tall forwards. Could be a good role player.

McBean will be a project ruckman but we still have Maric, Vickery and Elton/Griffiths. We might rookie a mature ager like Stephenson or Wood still.

FJ just said he will need a few years but the aim of the club going into the draft was to balance the list. Getting a mid, forward, ruck and defender - I reckon they accomplished that. He also said the aim was to draft best available so the players selected were deemed the best at that pick. Given the club watches these guys over the year and does hours of research, I'll back them in rather than some of the whinging keyboard experts here :thumbsu:
