Not sure what that Garlett did but wouldn't mind giving him a chance as a rookie (or at least investigating him further before the rookie and pre season draft). With Choco and the indigenous centre, we might be able to get his head screwed on properly. People have said he needs to leave WA so maybe worth a chance?

So why did we tell the world we'd be drafting at least 3 mids , but only drafted one?

Thanks Tigerbob.
Appreciated.

Can we select nondrafted players onto our main list directly?

Only ex players like Toy mate.

Rookie draft and PSD still to come. Still some players that didn't get selected that could be great gets.

Looking at the boards here at the Gold Coast, boy some clubs had weird selections.

As I said three of the four for us I love. McBean has been recruited as a ruckman and he lacks competitiveness in my opinion. Definitely a project player hopefully we could develop him. Got athletic traits.

Talking to a recruiter from a prominent club, he seems to think Richmond have done very well.

What we have done is balance our list, the clubs has backed our tall forwards in vick, elts griff and astbury so neglected to bolster any further. We didnt really have any natural goalkickers pushing through...explains MM selection. Despite our back half being quite youthful, beyound our senior side, only Dea and perhaps verrier are defensive up and comers which explains mcintosh...and mr bean needs no explanation...all reports ive researched on this kid are very good, just needs to add some serious beef to avoid being snapped in half....pretty happy with this haul

Personally - and I have had a few glasses of red as I type this - I think that most of the people whinging would whinge anyway. Says more about you than it does about the draft picks.
It does seem to be the same posters whinging all the time about everything. Take the comments they make with a grain of salt myself,

I am fair dinkhum baffled. these blokes get paid dosh to do this? ffs a few mates with a few beers could have done better.

You know there is an alternate explanation, right? And that explanation is that the guys doing the drafting have a real good idea of who they are drafting. Maybe in fact it's the amateurs on the trading board don't get 'paid dosh to do this'. Pull yourself together man.

Happy with our draft, Vlastuin will slot into the side nicely and will give us another hard at it ball winner with good skills. McIntosh and McBean give us a couple of longer term talls to develop at VFL level. McDonough is a medium forward who has shown he can kick goals and will give us another goal kicking option down the track.

It's interesting a lot of posters are complaining about the picks, yet not one of them has played a game for the club yet and only Vlastuin has pulled on the jumper. How the hell can you guys be writing them off already?
We really haven't had much luck developing talks through the VFL in recent years, let's hope that changes...

With the ever evolving interchange rules and the advent of free-agency, I would pick a solid mid over a ruck. I suppose the idea is to take on Wood and develop String Bean as "project ruckman" to quote FJ (read- pack on the kilos and rev him up)

No offence, but I don't know how you could come to that conclusion when you live in a different country?
Apologies if you have since returned to Australia, still just a ridiculous comment with no substance to it.

So with the PSD & Rookie drafts left, how many more can we potentially take ? And given there were a few surprised at who was still left. We could still do well with those who were'nt drafted Yeh ??

Surprised by the selections. I'm not going to judge as I have no knowledge of the actual players but in terms of what the club needs I'm surprised by picks 31 and 33.

I'll trust that McIntosh is a good player but I thought we were pretty much set for key backs with Rance, Grimes, Chaplin and possibly Griffiths. Similar with McBean. We need backup ruckmen and he won't be ready next year.

Strange because I think the clubs biggest weakness at the moment is a third key forward and midfield depth, yet they went the other way.

Oh well best of luck to all 4 guys:thumbsu:[/quot

we see mcintosh as a winger come hbf more than a key back and i would think the club thinks that derickx is this backup ruck you talk about. if we arent guna use him why keep him?

We have room for either:

2 senior, 2 rookies
1 senior, 3 rookies
or 4 rookies

My guess is Toy and Stephenson are senior listed and a couple of youngsters make it onto our rookie list

How about people like you just letting people like us vent and express diverse opinions on an internet discussion board and stop interjecting with smartarse cliched "club knows best" remarks and jumping on anyone who has a view you don't like just because they may not be an accredited employee of the AFL or journalist and haven't sat through thousand of hours of junior games & footage. Most of us have however followed the game & this club for decades, which may not count for much in your eyes, but means something to us and earnt us the right to have a voice.

If you can't manage that simple thing then make use of the ignore function and quit bitching about our bitching. We're no less passionate about this club than any of you good two shoes agree-with-everything supporters. So maybe try and indulge us and our rantings & ravings that may or may not be, uneducated, irrational & driven by emotion and excuse us for giving a shit about RFC and where it's headed.

Don't think you do yourself any favours when it's clear you're not familiar with the players we selected.... yet lament that they're poor selections. Seemingly using mock draft predictions as a basis for this.

Give the new boys a chance mate.

Ok so we've all had our say and look Ive been someone who in posts in other threads said that I would have preferred say Jaksch to Vlastuin. Nevertheless Vlastuin will be a good player and I wish him the best. I havent seen the boy from WA and can't comment. McBean is a long term prospect and McDonough I have never been a fan of and I think that other clubs will work him out pretty quick. Overall its not a great draft for us in terms of the names we got but lets wish all the boys the very best and lets hope they all play great and prove the doubters wrong including me I suppose.
