Looks like 10 just behind the Bombers who will take Daniher there.

Given that Whitfield, Toumpas, Grundy are pretty much guaranteed top 3 or at least top 5, I reckon that means we'll get one of:

O'Rourke - Inside Mid
Wines - Inside Mid
Stringer - Fwd/Mid
Mayes - Fwd/Mid
Vlaustin - Def/Mid
Kennedy - Mid/Fwd
Plowman - Key Def

With some other smokies:

Gartlett - Outside Mid (big attitude problems apparantly)
Menzel - Mid/Fwd (Injury concerns)
Shaw - Key Forward

Forgot to add Caddy to that list ;)

Is someone able to put up the draft order up to our pick? I was sure we had pick 9

Melbourne and WB have a compensation pick each after their respective first round picks.

GWS
GC
Melb
Melb
WB
WB
Port
Bris
Rich
Ess
Carl

Great so GWS continues to compromise the draft

Wouldn't be surprised to see the draft go,

If thats the case lets hope they take a couple of left field picks and push the mids down to us.

Kids today. Don't you have F-Troop on Freeview or Foxtel?

It's Sargeant O'Rourke, clearly. (The older bloke)

Lucas plus 2nd rounder for Caddy.

First pick on Wines or Stringer (bit worried about the broken leg, but everyone was worried about Selwood's knee issues and he turned out ok)

**** if this happens I'll be rapt.

Because Caddy is better than Lucas and Essendon will offer a player + a 2nd rounder imo, so we need to beat their offer.

I don't want to enter into a bidding war for a player we don't desperately need.

Caddy would be nice, really nice. I'd love to get him to Carlton - don't get me wrong on that.

However, giving up a reasonable pick as well as a player who hasn't been afforded a great run at it just yet, for a player who has been nothing other than solid thus far in his career, can't be justified IMO.

If the Bombers want to pay a hefty price for a player like Caddy, let them.

Agree - that's effectively 2 first round picks, 11 & 13 (Lucas) for a recent pick 8 (Caddy). One of those options with a minor sweetner would be the deal.

I like the idea of Caddy in a Carlton jumper next year as he could really strengthen our midfield and with 2 years development and size on Stringer, O'Rourke, Wines etc is more likely to step straight in and have an immeadiate impact. I'm also confident that under a new coach and with a good run with injury Lucas will be kicking goals and providing plenty of run off a hff/wing.

As for a bidding war, you can all but rule out the bombers. They have nothing to offer - their 1st round pick is gone for Daniher and their playing list doesn't have the quality to net them a high enough pick without trading a required player. The Suns will laugh at their offer of Hooker or Gumbledon and their 2nd. I'd think Richmond with pick 10, our pick 11 or Melbourne with pick 13 are probably early favourites before player trades are discussed.

That's not too far away, I'd say.

If they did get Hooker over the line for whatever reason then it's a lock for Hurley to be played down back.
Surely they can't rely on Fletcher and Carlisle to be their 2 key backs.

Essendon may well get Caddy, but I just don't them having much to deal with.
We've got much better options should we really be keen.

Speaking to a few Bombers fans they keep talking Hooker and/or Pears and a 2nd rounder, and that pretty much sums up the Bombers at the trade table. Given their list, I just can't see any way they can trade up to a high enough pick.

Caddy may be out of contract but he doesn't have the option of walking to a club of choice - PSD draft is out of the question and if nominates for the main draft he will be snapped up well before Essendon's 2nd round pick. Like last year, the Suns will play it tough, they need to set an example for other players on their list and so they aren't going to let him walk without adequate compensation. If we wants to return to Melbourne he had better widen his options because he won't make it to Windy Hill.

I'd prefer Hooker to Bower to be perfectly honest. Hooker's younger (by almost a year), is bigger (196cm, 97kg to 192cm, 92kg) and has played much more over the past three seasons therefore he would have more currency than Bower on the trade market. No real area that Bower has it over Hooker in regards to KPI's.

It would take Carlton more than Bower + second round pick to beat Hooker + 30

I was just kidding Wiki :)

Any team could pick up Bower for nothing as sad as that may be.

Me too - Bower has no currency. I was highlighting the usual trade week suggestions where team offers up fringe/dud and 2nd round pick for a gun. A pick around 10 is probably the starting point for Caddy and there is no way Hooker and 30 is going to get the deal done.

How is it effectively 2 first round picks? Lucas + SECOND rounder was what I said.

Lucas is too soft for mine. His disposal isn't as good as it's talked up to be. He also failed to get a game this year when we had heaps of injuries. Perhaps the next coach can get him to improve his game, but at the end of the day, I just rate Caddy so much higher than Lucas. I also reckon we will be trading one of Warnock or Hampson which would get us a 2nd rounder imo.

We will not give up our first rounder if we have any brains.

The old rock soup trade. Add another ingredients to a rock and you can make a lovely soup. o_O

"Even though I don't rate him, they'll stick take my offer for a young gun."

Always makes me laugh.

Why not?

A first rounder for Caddy all but achieves the same result in giving us a best 22 player.

Another club could be dumb enough to try and top that, so I wouldn't give up a first round and second round pick for an uncontracted player.

We could trade a ruckman for a second round pick if we want another selection and need more cap space.
